The Immunization Specialist, based in Tarinkot, is accountable for contributing to the planning, implementation, monitoring of the Immunization programme in conjunction with PEI (Polio Eradication Initiative) activities, Maternal and Child Health, Nutrition and WASH components to achieve the organization's objective of stopping polio transmission and providing immunization services in an equitable manner in the respective provinces.

How can you make a difference?

As Immunization Specialist, you will contribute to the following results:

1. Timely EPI Situation Analysis with consistent integration of sex disaggregated data and its periodic update for effective project planning, development and management

2. Quality contributions to the development and implementation of EPI microplans (ensuring congruence with Polio microplans) through participation and collaboration with internal and external partners

3. Technical support and leadership provided for planning and implementation of joint EPI and PEI activities such as microplanning, monitoring of EPI activities, monitoring of PEI campaigns, communication related activities including social mobilization

4. Programme implementation progress is monitored and evaluated for adjustment, acceleration and improvement of program delivery and sustainability. Reports are generated on time and data are analysed for actions.

5. Technical support is provided to government and BPHS NGOs at all stages of the programme cooperation, including capacity building of government personnel, staff of BPHS NGOs and community stakeholders

6. Technical support and leadership provided for periodic training of Polio ICN (from provincial down to all levels) in various elements of EPI programme

7. UNICEF and Government accountability is ensured for supply and non-supply assistance and disbursement of programme funds for the sector. Ensure efficient and effective use of resources (material, financial and human resources).

8. Effective partnership and collaboration achieved and maintained for advocacy, technical cooperation, programme coordination, information sharing and knowledge networking.

9. A In collaboration with Polio team, technical support provided for development of communication strategies, tools and materials for increasing demand for EPI and PEI activities

10. All required programme reports are timely prepared in compliance with the established guidelines and procedures.

11. Emergency preparedness is maintained, and in emergencies, emergency responses with effective coordination is provided.

12. Lead and coordinate with other UNICEF programs on planning, monitoring, reporting of integrated activities implemented to strengthen polio acceptance and to achieve the organization's objective of stopping polio transmission and providing immunization plus services in an equitable manner at provincial level.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have:

• An advanced university degree in Public Health, Pediatric Health, Child Development, Child Health, Nutrition, Epidemiology, Public Administration, Social Policy, Social Development, Community Development, or other relevant disciplines
• Five years of professional work experience at the national and international levels in planning, programming, implementation monitoring and evaluation of Immunization programmes.
• A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
• Willingness to travel to insecure and remote areas will be required.
• Professional work experience in a technical expert position related to child survival & health care.
• Developing country work experience and background/familiarity with work in emergencies and conflict affected areas is an asset.
• Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of the local language of the duty station or another official UN language is considered as an asset.
