UNICEF information systems are the backbone without which the Organization will be severely diminished in its ability to execute its mandate. The VISION (SAP ERP) application and its inter-connected peripheral systems are major parts of mission critical information systems.

The ICT Specialist (SAP Basis) implements and operates the SAP Applications technical environment, including daily diagnostics verification, object transport, implementation of OSS notes, operating system, disaster recovery environment, security and access control system, installations, upgrades and maintenance of the system, and systems administration procedures, in accordance with the standards set forth by the Chief Internal Capability Systems, ICT Manager Basis and by the SAP Functional teams. Work shall be performed within the general procedures set forth by ICTD Operational framework.

This position supports SAP related implementation and operations, by collaborating with the Solution Centre and Support internal resources, as well as other ICTD resources in line with the needs of the section. This role performs ICTD SAP systems administration related to workplans, in conjunction with and as an integral part of the overall Solution Centre and Support section workplan.

This role is accountable for ensuring:

1. VISION application runs without issues by monitoring, change management control, configuring, tuning and taking necessary proactive actions. 2. Access in VISION is secured and under control based on defined strategies 3. All interfaces with other SAP and inter-connected auxiliary applications run with no issues, including:

• Vision access provisioning • Inbound/outbound application interfaces • SAP Cloud Platform and SAP Analytics Cloud • Webdispatcher

These responsibilities enable the organization to meet its strategic objectives and execute its mandate.

This position reports to the ICT Manager (SAP Basis) at the P-4 level. This position may supervise the work of consultants.

Key responsibilities:

• Sustains the implementation, operations and maintenance of the SAP Applications technical infrastructure (development, test, QA, simulation, and production, etc.) Provides appropriate documentation of operational issues. • Maintains the integrity of the SAP environment by managing the SAP Correction and Transport System (CTS) to ensure all configuration and development objects are promoted properly. • Analyzes and makes recommendations regarding appropriate systems architecture for all SAP Application systems, including client management strategy, work procedures, and systems administration policies, to guarantee systems service levels are compliant with industry standard and with UNICEF' s requirements. • Sustains the approved strategy for systems accesses control and acts upon the corresponding procedures and mechanisms, in accordance with UNICEF's rules and regulations. Proposes improvements. • Investigates technical developments relevant to operating an SAP Application system, and acts as resource to upgrade the skills of other ICTD staff as required. • Recommends solutions for technical problems identified during the operations of SAP Applications, in accordance with industry standards and UNICEF's resources, rules and regulations. • Monitors all SAP systems (work processes, users, system logs, short dumps, locks, developer traces, system traces, disk space, etc.). • Participates in the planning and implementation of SAP system upgrades. • Provides technical expertise to explore and implement new technologies in line with SAP roadmap. • Performs any other relevant duties requested by supervisor.

Academic Degrees: • An advanced university degree (Master’s Degree or higher) in in Business Administration, Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications or a related field is required. A first University Degree (Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent) in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree. • Specialized training in appropriate discipline, including course work in SAP systems administration, Linux operating systems, Oracle database administration and HANA database administration is desirable.

Required Professional Experience: • A minimum of 5 years of practical professional experience in information technology related to SAP systems administration is required. • Practical experience working and negotiating with consultants and vendors is required. • Hands on experience with Oracle database administration and HANA database administration is required. • Knowledge of basic telecommunications and Linux operating systems is required. • Knowledge of practices and principles of database administration is required. • Experience with SAP systems administration in a large-scale IT environment is required. • Good understanding of practices and principles of systems administration, analysis, maintenance, support and operations; IT analysis, planning, design, implementation and problem resolution; and database technologies is required. • Knowledge and hands-on experience with SAP cloud technologies are desirable. • Knowledge and experience of UNICEF procedures and business processes are desirable.
