You have:

  • Experience developing SAP programs, reports, forms, workflows, WebDynpros, SAPUI5 and SAP Fiori applications using SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP).
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience in working with public sector business processes, specifically in financial accounting, banking and treasury, financial rules and regulations and business processes are an asset.

The overarching strategic goal of UNICEF’s Information and Communication Technology Division (ICTD) is to transform and build partnerships with our stakeholders to successfully implement UNICEF programmes globally through innovative technology-enabled solutions.

UNICEF’s ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) System through SAP known as VISION and its integration with other internal systems and external business partners are the backbone without which the organization will be severely diminished in its ability to execute its day-to-day operations, and ultimately its mandate. The Solution Center is the primary stakeholder to analyze, design, develop, deploy and provide ongoing maintenance support for this application portfolio. The responsibilities of this position ensure that:

• All applications and interfaces function as intended. • Prompt technical and functional support is provided to business users. • Systems and applications are upgraded and enhanced to support evolving business processes and practices. • Financial reports and interfaces are designed and deployed as per business requirements.

How can you make a difference?

Under the guidance of the ICT Manager, the ICT Specialist performs systems configuration, development and maintenance work in all phases of applications life cycle for the UNICEF global ERP system from business process analysis, process design through testing, implementation and support primarily in the area of Financial Management in the Banking and Payment Module (Including BCM).

The ICT Specialist performs functional requirement analysis, develops technical specifications, performs application development and unit testing. This includes custom solutions identified along with associated forms, reports and data views. In addition, this role enables user acceptance testing, develops technical and use documentation, and provides second level technical support in coordination with internal and external partners.

Key responsibilities:

1. Performs functional requirement analysis, ABAP, FIORI UI5, O-Data Services development and maintenance in ERP system and related interfaces primarily in the areas of banking, treasury, financial payment and accounting modules along with integration with other financial modules, supply, human resources, payroll and travel. Develops and maintains system interfaces with UN agencies and external service providers.

2. Produces technical specifications and documentation that includes impact analysis, test cases, object dependencies, performance testing and risk analysis. Creates solutions for business and technical problems identified, in accordance with industry standards and UNICEF’s resources, rules and regulations.

3. Performs system maintenance and production support to SAP application systems and related interfaces. Provides technical, process and data related guidance to business Subject Matter Experts. Diagnoses system issues and provides appropriate solutions in a timely manner.

4. Keeps abreast of developments within the area of technology advancements in the Financial Technology sector (FinTech) especially SAP, under the guidance of the supervisor. Creates prototypes and proof of concepts as identified to enable decision making.

5. In coordination with application development teams, aligns and contributes in design, development, and documentation standards.

6. Acts as a back-up resource person for other functional areas in the team as and when required. Provides support for application development in business areas outside of FI as required based on priorities. Performs any other relevant duties requested by the supervisor.

Academic Degrees Required: An Advanced University degree (Master’s Degree or higher) in Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field is required. A first university degree (Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent) in a relevant area combined with 2 additional years of relevant practical professional work experience may be taken in lieu of advanced university degree.

Professional Experience: A minimum of 5 years of work experience with an advanced degree, or 7 years work experience with a first university degree is required at the national and international level in Information Technology related to application system design and development, including mandatory practical experience in:

• Application development with SAP ERP Systems, specifically SAP financial accounting, banking, and payment module (including BCM) and its integration with external banking and treasury platforms in financial areas. • Developing SAP programs, reports, forms, workflows, WebDynpros, SAPUI5 and SAP Fiori applications using SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), Core Data Set (CDS) views using SAP HANA Studio, OData services using SAP Gateway, and interfaces using SAP Payment Medium Workbench. • Experience in applying project management methodologies and all the phases of system development life cycle methodologies.

Experience developing and monitoring interfaces with SAP using SOAP and REST webservices, SAP Process Orchestration (PO), OData services in SAP Gateway is desirable.

Knowledge and experience in working with Microsoft (including SharePoint) and middleware cloud platforms are desirable.

Knowledge and experience in working with public sector business processes, specifically in financial accounting, banking and treasury, financial rules and regulations and business processes are an asset.

Language Requirements: • Fluency in English is required. • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.
