UNOPS supports partners to build a better future by providing services that increase the efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability of peace building, humanitarian and development projects. Mandated as a central resource of the United Nations, UNOPS provides sustainable project management, procurement and infrastructure services to a wide range of governments, donors and United Nations organizations.

The New York Portfolios Office (NYPO) supports the United Nations Secretariat, as well as other New York-based United Nations organizations, bilateral and multilateral partners in the delivery of UNOPS mandate in project management, infrastructure management, and procurement management.

The Sustainable Development Cluster (SDC) supports diverse partners with their peacebuilding, humanitarian and development operations. It was formed by combining the following portfolios: Grants Management Services (GMS), UN Technology Support Services (UNTSS), Development and Special Initiatives Portfolio (DSIP) It provides Services to partners' programmes that are designed, structured, and managed with a global perspective and primarily serving partners that are headquartered in New York. The SDC has a footprint of approximately 125 countries.

UNOPS has signed a service-based agreement with the UN Secretariat to provide ICT services and this position will support that scope of service.

The incumbent of this position will be a personnel of UNOPS under its full responsibility.

Functional Responsibilities

Under the overall supervision of UNOPS Senior Programme Manager and technical coordination of the Server Virtualization Officer, the ICT Senior Assistant will be performing the following functions: - Assist in installing, configuring and maintaining ELK stack for log management and analysis. - Provide network support on protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLAN. - Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues. - Work with Linux and Windows operating systems and common command-line tools. - Assist on cloud-based infrastructure, such as AWS or Azure. - Support Git and version control best practices. - Assist on DevOps and related tools such as CI/CD pipeline, Ansible, Puppet or Chef. - Support in configuring network security devices such as Firewall, VPN, and IDS/IPS - Assist on virtualization technologies like VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM - Provide support with monitoring and alerting tools such as Nagios, PRTG, or Zabbix. - Perform other duties as may be reasonably required and in line with the incumbent’s scope of services above.

Monitoring and Progress Controls The ICT Senior Assistant assists in resolving performance issues after the deployment of applications, services and infrastructure providing a comprehensive analysis approach that all teams can benefit from during the service operation phases. The framework includes continuous performance analysis, infrastructure and services assessments and comparison against their definition as well as performance analysis and optimization of the same infrastructure and services from the customer’s side.

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Experience Required experience:

⦁ A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the field of information technology and/or telecommunications and systems ⦁ A minimum of 2 years of experience working with ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana) ⦁ A minimum of 2 years of strong knowledge of network administration, including experience with routers, switches, or firewall configuration

⦁ Familiarity with Linux and Windows operating systems ⦁ Experience with cloud-based technologies, such as AWS or Azure ⦁ Basic knowledge of Git and version control best practices ⦁ Familiarity with DevOps principles and tools such as Ansible, ⦁ Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues ⦁ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
