The overarching strategic goal of UNICEF’s ICT Division (ICTD) is to transform and build partnerships with our stakeholders to successfully implement UNICEF programmes globally through the use of innovative technology-enabled solutions. This work is becoming increasingly important due to the growing influence of the public and private sector in development and humanitarian action, and the rising importance of technological innovation for development and scale. Many external partners are changing the way in which they engage with development partners, moving towards a ‘shared value’ approach that integrates sustainable practices into their core business models and creates win-win partnerships. UNICEF is well placed as a partner for new forms of engagement with business in view of its universal mandate for children, its strong brand and its global presence.

How can you make a difference?

Under the supervision of the Senior ICT Sr. Business Relationship Manager (Partnership), the incumbent will develop a range of engagement and resource mobilization offerings between UNICEF ICTD and prospective public and private sector partners. Specifically, the incumbent will be working on resource mobilization and engagement activities, including, but not limited to:

  • The establishing, mapping and monitoring of engagement and resource mobilization plan with prospective external partners
  • Internal coordination of engagement on ICTD with relevant HQ divisions, regional and country offices.
  • Outlining a set of engagement and resource mobilization opportunities and methods that will connect external partners’ targets and funding with UNICEF ICTD digital innovation initiatives and programmatic driven projects.
  • In collaboration with Communication Specialist to create/implement a unified communication and outreach plan on ICT for external engagement.

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

Internal engagement coordination:

  • Coordinate with UNICEF HQ, Regional and Country Offices in technology and digital innovation needs to identify and document funding, expertise and other resource needs, package and update the information for sharing with PFP, PPD, National Committees and prospective partners
  • Collaborate with UNICEF HQ, Regional and Country Offices and National Committees to map digital innovation engagement opportunities with key public and private sector targets including,
    • Screen all prospective targets before further engagement and outreach.
    • Develop concept note and other relevant materials needed to secure new partnership and funding.
  • In collaboration with DOC, PFP and PPD, create a content driven and unified communication/outreach plan for one-dimensional and multi-dimensional engagement opportunities with UNICEF ICTD

External support and engagements:

  • Support ongoing public/private partnerships in digital innovation and the initiation of new forms of mutually beneficial collaborations between UNICEF/ National Committees and prospective external partners
  • Assist in identifying and developing large new technology alliances with specific target companies and coordinating with PFP/PPD or relevant National Committees where these companies are headquartered
  • Create a prioritization system that effectively allocates funds, expertise and resource to priority digital innovation needs
  • Assist in the drafting of funding proposals.
    • Participate as required in donor meetings to facilitate the development of new and management of ongoing partnerships.
    • Coordinate and or manage new/existing accounts and ensure implementation of agreed activities, seamless transfer of funds/expertise, reporting and others

Operational Excellence:

  • Provide functional design inputs into the development of a cross-divisional/regional Corporate Relationship Management (CRM) database
  • Provide day-to-day support and guidance to UNICEF ICTD, country offices, HQ divisions and external partners by responding to specific needs and quires related to proposals, reports, and contribution management
  • Monitor and evaluate partnerships, as well as document the lessons learned with corporate targets

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Advanced degree in in one of the following fields: technology, communications, social sciences communication, marketing, public relations, business administration and management
  • At least five (5) years of progressively responsible work experience in corporate fundraising, marketing, and/or in a corporate managerial role with engaging with partners
  • A track record of working on developing innovative solutions/partnerships and initiatives
  • Strong leadership skills; capacity to prioritize and manage a diverse range of partners, projects and activities
  • Ability to work with a diverse set of partners to create problem specifications, system requirements, and then implement software and technology innovations
  • Prior experience in prospecting, fundraising and/or partnerships building required
  • Understanding of UNICEF public and private engagement dimensions an asset
  • Familiarity with UNICEF ICT and digital innovation’s work an asset
  • Prior experience in working on children’s issues an asset
  • Demonstrated research, planning, communication and writing skills.

Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
