How can you make a difference?

UNICEF Enterprise Resource Planning Systems that run UNICEF’s core business applications are the backbone without which the Organization will be severely diminished in its ability to execute its mandate. UNICEF Business rules, business processes, IPSAS principles, Integration with business partner systems are integral components of these systems. It is critical that these systems run optimally and ensure that the integrity of the business information is maintained across the integrated landscape at all times with a high availability to all UNICEF offices.

The responsibilities of this position ensure that:

  1. The Business Application systems function as desired and ensure smooth business operations.
  2. Events that threaten the functioning of these systems are identified and mitigated in a timely manner.
  3. Support systems are in place and function as per the stipulated support tiers and support calls are resolved as per the agreed SLAs
  4. Documented Change management systems are followed to ensure that the defined standards/guidelines, documentation, and traceability of changes is adhered to.

Purpose of the position

Under the guidance of the ICT Manager, the ICT Officer, performs the systems development and maintenance work in the assigned areas of the UNICEF's VISION Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) application system comprising activities for system configuration, custom development with ABAP programming language, WebDynpro and FIORI technology and mobility solutions. The incumbent performs systems documentation, thorough testing and subsequent technical support for solutions primarily in the areas of SAP Supply/Logistics with integration to financial accounting, funds management and other related areas of SAP.

Key responsibilities:

Performs system configuration, programming development and maintenance on the assigned tasks primarily in the areas of SAP Supply/Logistics with integration to Financials and Funds Management along with documentation and testing.

Develops technical solutions for the problems identified during the use or implementation of the SAP system in consultation with the ICT Specialist and the supervisor, in accordance with industry standards and UNICEF' s resources, rules and regulations. Produces technical documentation that includes test cases, object dependencies and performance testing.

Performs system maintenance and production support to application systems. Implements solutions to resolve the assigned issues.

Research technical and business developments relevant to SAP and related applications under the guidance of the supervisor and, makes recommendations on the related tools and their usage.

Performs any other relevant duties requested by supervisor which may include supervision of consultants for project work.

To qualify as a champion for every child you will have…

  • Advanced University degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, Computer Science or university degree.
  • Bachelor’s degree with 2 years’ experience, may be taken in lieu of Advanced University Degree.
  • Two years practical professional work experience at the national and international level in Information Technology, related to application system design and development. Hands-on working experience in SAP configuration and/or SAP custom program development in ABAP, WebDynpro, FIORI, preferably in the Supply/Logistics area is required.
  • Practical experience in Information Technology disciplines; business process analysis, user requirements analysis, testing methodologies, and applications development is required
  • Practical working experiences in Supply/ logistics along with the SAP integration with financial modules is highly desirable.
  • Experience with Application integration using Application Programming Interface (API), SAP middleware SAP-PO is highly desirable
  • Fluency in English required, Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.
