UNICEF’s Enterprise Resource Planning Systems that run UNICEF’s core business applications are the backbone that enables the organization to execute and sustain its mandate. UNICEF business rules, business processes, IPSAS principles, and integration with business partner systems are critical components of these systems. It is imperative that these systems run optimally and ensure that the integrity of the business information is always maintained across the ERP ecosystem for UNICEF offices globally.

The responsibilities of this position entail support to ensuring: • Business Application systems function as desired and ensure smooth business operations. • Events that threaten the functioning of these systems are identified and mitigated in a timely manner. • Enforcing support systems are in place and function as per the stipulated support tiers and support calls are resolved as per the agreed SLAs. • Subject matter expertise in system integration and application development is provided as required. • Documented change management systems are applied to ensure that the defined standards/guidelines, documentation, and traceability of changes are adhered to.

Under the supervision of the Systems Analyst at the P-3 level, the ICT Officer (ABAP Developer) has major responsibilities as a programmer for developing, documenting, testing, implementing, maintaining and supporting system programs, forms, reports, interface functions and procedures related to all UNICEF Enterprise systems, based on SAP and ServiceNow. SAP technology includes ECC, Process Orchestration (PO), NetWeaver Gateway (GW), Cloud Platform, Mobile Platform, Solution Manager and third-party interfaces.

The incumbent will also be responsible for application monitoring, performance tuning, planning and implementation of SAP releases and technical projects.

Key responsibilities:

• Helps develop programs, mobile applications, and interfaces. Tests and releases solutions into production, after the programs have been approved by Quality Assurance. Supports user queries related to application integration.

• Maintains existing applications and interfaces, monitors errors and suggests improvements in the technical areas.

• Provides documentation on new and existing application integration areas. Works closely with the Systems Analyst to ensure that the application integrity is maintained across the enterprise.

• Recommends architectural improvements and simplification of interfaces to ensure consistency, data integrity and better performance.

• Keeps abreast of developments within the area of information technology and engages with the supervisor on new application areas and technology. Creates prototypes and proofs of concept for new SAP technologies.

• Supports custom ServiceNow applications including interfaces with ERP and third-party systems.

• Participates in the definition and enforcement of development & security standards and best practices in UNICEF.

• Performs any other related duties as required by the supervisor.

Academic Degrees Required: • A university degree (Bachelor’s Degree or higher) in information systems, computer science, engineering or a relevant technical or business-related field is required.

Required Professional Experience: A minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible relevant work experience is required, including: • Hands-on work experience in programming or systems development in SAP. Knowledge of all the phases of system development life cycle methodologies. • Experience in developing SAP programs, reports, forms, workflows, WebDynpros, SAPUI5 and SAP Fiori applications using SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), Core Data Set (CDS) views using SAP HANA Studio. • Experience with enhancement frameworks, and SAP upgrades. • Experience in developing and monitoring interfaces with SAP using Payment Medium Workbench, SOAP and REST webservices, SAP Process Orchestration (PO), OData services in SAP Gateway.

Desirable Experience: • Experience with finance and logistics interfaces, user roles and authorizations, and SAP NetWeaver Architectures is an asset. • Knowledge and experience in ServiceNow platform is desirable.

Language Requirements: • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.
