  • Associate’s degree or technical institute degree/certificate in Computer Science, Information Systems, or another related field. Or equivalent work experience.
  • Network management certifications

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

DESIGN/DEVELOP:

  • Works with client teams to gather requirements.
  • Analyzes and documents requirements, with assistance.

DEPLOYMENT:

  • Assists in the deployment of new, modified or enhanced system hardware and software components or services.

ADMINISTRATION:

  • Installs, configures and maintains system hardware and software components.
  • Implements predetermined software or hardware changes to rectify any issues.
  • Maintains local internet, remote access, VPNs, and connectivity protocols.
  • Establishes user profiles, user environments, directories, and security for networks being installed.

TELECOM:

  • Installs, configures and maintains system hardware and software components.
  • May analyze and resolve issues related to facilities bandwidth requirements, capacity planning, and analyzes system interdependencies.
  • Monitors installed equipment.

AUDIO & VIDEO CONFERENCING:

  • Participates in the set-up and conduct point-to-point audio or video conferencing for meetings, sharing documents, computer displayed information and whiteboard.

FCAPS MANAGEMENT (Fault, Configuration, Accounting Performance, and Security):

  • Monitors network/telecommunications activity and logs problems.
  • Monitors facilities bandwidth requirements and schedules requests for bandwidth.
  • Adjusts bandwidth on a daily or weekly basis.
  • Assesses network performance to ensure that it meets the present and future needs of the business.

CUSTOMER SUPPORT:

  • Provides support for connectivity or related network/ communication issues for the user community.
  • Provides responsive support for problems found during normal working hours as well as outside normal working hours.

PRODUCTION SUPPORT:

  • Provides Level 2 support.
  • Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and resolves diagnoses common problems.
  • Documents problems and resolutions for future reference.

POLICIES, PROCESSES, & STANDARDS:

  • Adheres to policies, processes and standards.

BUSINESS CONTINUITY:

  • Assists in executing site specific disaster recovery plans.

SECURITY:

  • Implements security procedures.

VENDOR MANAGEMENT:

  • May work with vendors to resolve network / Telecommunications problems.
  • May assist in reviewing invoices.

RESEARCH/EVALUATION:

  • Gathers and records data on specified vendors' products against defined requirements.

  • Associate’s degree or technical institute degree/certificate in Computer Science, Information Systems, or another related field. Or equivalent work experience.
  • Network management certifications
  • Typically requires 1-3 years of relevant experience in managing IT Networks.
