The overarching strategic goal of UNICEF’s Information and Communication Technology Division (ICTD) is to transform and build partnerships with our stakeholders to successfully implement UNICEF programmes globally through innovative technology-enabled solutions.

This position will report to the Chief, Internal Capability Systems, in ICTD’s Solutions Center and Support Section. A key perspective of the Center’s goals is to provide adequate, user-friendly, and modern business solutions to UNICEF’s departments and stakeholders, as well as providing guidance, governance, and procedures to several enterprise processes, such as data collection, program monitoring, digital tools and platforms, and business process optimization throughout the organization. These goals are aligned with the organizational strategy, enterprise architecture, and information management requirements of UNICEF’s different stakeholders.

How can you make a difference?

Under the general guidance of the Chief, Internal Capability Systems, and in close collaboration with the Solution Center's Team leads, Platform and Services Architects and other staff, the ICT Manager (Solutions Architect) will lead and provide subject matter expertise in the technical designs and development for enterprise business systems, integration services and components that ensures a robust and scalable end-to-end design of solutions.

The incumbent plays a core role in keeping abreast of technologies in the development domains of SAP ERP, Service Now, Fiori applications, application integration and mobile applications, and influences the solutions delivery by recommending current, relevant, and scalable technology solutions. The role will guide and educate the solution delivery teams on the emerging development and integration technologies and will be an integral liaison between the Solutions and the Platform teams.

This position may oversee the work of consultants.

Key responsibilities:

Lead and guide business applications teams in defining application architecture. • Ensure application designs are as per the set standards • Lead application technology roadmap formation • Keep abreast of the latest and emerging technologies • Work closely with the functional teams and influence technical design of applications • Enforce high-quality standards and practices via regular reviews • Recommend and implement best practices for application design and development • Recommend usage of innovative technology and tools • Collaborate with cross-functional team members from Architecture, product management, QA, Platforms and IT Security

Orchestrate, investigate, manage and oversee development, maintenance and deployment of enterprise solutions. • Lead the Solutions Development Team in ABAP, Fiori and Mobile Apps design and development • Lead the development team in integration of SAP with SaaS and other applications using SAP-PO • Identify, map, and implement best-fit technologies for business solutions • Create and maintain application architecture diagrams • Collaborate with the functional and technical teams to resolve conflicts • Lead upgrade projects with close coordination with functional and technical teams • Lead architectural and design discussions with IT Security and Platforms teams to align the solutions with the Solution Center roadmap and General Data Protection Regulation principles • Maintain a repository of security certificates for the relevant integration domains

Serve as technical lead in formation of Enterprise Business Systems Roadmap. • Investigate and suggest best-fit technology landscape • Encourage adoption of innovative technologies in solutions design • Play an integral role in formulation of technology roadmaps in line with long term vision. • Bridge knowledge gaps within functional teams in relevant technical domains

To qualify as a champion for every child you will have…

Education: • An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in Information Technology is required. A first University Degree in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree.

Required Experience and Skills: • A minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible role developing systems/software for large business environments • Proven experience developing complex distributed systems, management products or business applications • Proven experience leading design and implementation of robust and highly scalable solutions • Proven experience and capabilities in SAP ERP, Service Gateway, Fiori applications, application integration and mobile application development techniques • Strong demonstrable knowledge of SAP HANA enterprise, Business Technology Platform and Integration architectures • Proven experience operating at varying levels of abstraction from business strategy to product strategy to high level technical design to implementation • Experience driving for results across cross-functional teams while maintaining effective working relationships • Ability to understand and mitigate risks involved in deploying technology • Grounded understanding of Systems Lifecycle Management and knowledge of process analysis and design • Strategic Ability to understand the translation of business needs into technical requirements • Ability to lead understand technology transformation and organization change management for continuous improvement and work in a complex technical environment • Experience working with teams developing mission critical applications in agile environment • Familiarity with DevOps tools and techniques

Desirable: • Knowledge of the organization's technologies and architectures is an asset.

Language Requirements: • Fluency in English is required. • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.
