Background
UNDP is the leading United Nations organization fighting to end the injustice of poverty, inequality, and climate change. UNDP Pacific office in Fiji is part of the 177 -country office UNDP network which provides regional and country support to 10 countries including Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Palau, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu and regional support to 5 countries.
In line with the programmatic focus of UNDP in the Pacific, the three programme units have been created to be headed by the Team Leaders: Effective Governance, Sustainable Development and Resilience, and Inclusive Growth. In addition, there is a unit dedicated to results-based management and communications. The unit leaders are directly reporting to the Deputy Resident Representative and working closely with the Team Leaders and staff based in Fiji and other pacific Island Countries on programme formulation, oversight and implementation, as well as policy advice and advocacy to meet the development needs of the Government and people of the Pacific Islands. For operations, the team in Fiji is headed by the Operations & Implementation Support Advisor and works closely with other Pacific Island countries to ensure efficiency and compliance of administrative services.
Under the direct supervision of the Human Resources, Procurement and Finance Analyst, the Interns will provide administrative support in Human Resources, Procurement, Finance and ICT working closely with colleagues in Fiji and other Pacific Island Countries.
- Provide a framework by which students from diverse academic backgrounds may be assigned to UNDP office, where their educational experience can be enhanced through practical work assignments;
- Expose them to an international environment;
- Expose them to work of the Organization with the objective of deepening their knowledge and understanding of UNDP goals, principles and activities;
- Provide UNDP office with the assistance of qualified students specialized in various professional fields.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assisting with troubleshooting computer hardware and software
- Assisting with Software installations and configurations
- Setting up computer workstations
- Setting up teleconference & video conference meetings
- Ad-hoc end-user support via email, MS Teams, phone or in-person
- Scanning of documents (Purchase Order, Voucher, etc) and uploading to Sharepoint
- Other similar duties as assigned by Supervisor

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
- Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
- Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent);
- Have graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation.
- Currently pursuing or completed degree in Information Technology or Information System or Computer Science
Experience:
- Work experience is not a requirement for the internship
- Knowledge of the local environment is a key requirement
Language:
- Proficiency in English;
General Internships Terms & Conditions:
- The Internship programme is governed by the UNDP Internship policy framework & rules.
- Under the new revised UNDP internship policy, UNDP will provide a modest monthly internship stipend to its interns.
- UNDP interns accrue leave at a rate of 1.5 days per month;
- Selected Interns must be able to share proof of education enrolment and/ or graduation, medical/ health and life/accident insurance, valid for the location in which the internship will be carried out and be able to provide insurance documentary proof at the time of their selection;
- There is no expectation of employment at the end of these internships.
UNDP is not responsible for any claims by an intern or third party in the case of loss or damage to property or death or personal injury as a result of actions or omissions on the part of the intern during the internship period.
Working conditions:
During the internship session, interns will be provided with an office working space and internet access.
