The New York Service Cluster (NYSC) supports the United Nations Secretariat, as well as other New York-based United Nations organizations, bilateral and multilateral partners in the delivery of UNOPS mandate in project management, infrastructure management, and procurement management

The Sustainable Development Cluster (SDC) supports diverse partners with their peacebuilding, humanitarian and development operations. It was formed by combining the following portfolios: Grants Management Services (GMS), UN Technology Support Services (UNTSS), Development and Special Initiatives Portfolio (DSIP) It provides Services to partners' programmes that are designed, structured, and managed with a global perspective and primarily serving partners that are headquartered in New York. The SDC has a footprint of approximately 125 countries.

By aggregating operational data for analytics across functional areas within the Organization, Umoja frees up time for higher value-added activities, which would have been otherwise spent on inefficient, paper-based tasks.

Following approval by the United Nations General Assembly in December 2020, the Enterprise Resource Planning Solution Division (ERPSD) was established on 1 January

2021. Its primary objectives being to:

1. Improve and support all deployed Umoja solutions

2. Continue to innovate and introduce fit-for-purpose exciting ERP Products.

UNOPS has signed a Financial Agreement with the Enterprise Resource Planning Solution Division (ERPSD) and the resources will provide capacity for data conversion and integration services ensuring ensures that Umoja analytics deployment through the entire Organization across various Process and functional areas using standard processes and tools in a timely and effective manner.

This is a position in UNOPS for supporting projects carried out for the United Nations Secretariat.

The incumbent of this position will be a staff member of UNOPS under its full responsibility.

Functional Responsibilities

Under the overall supervision of UNOPS Senior Programme Manager, the ICT Associate (Data and Business Intelligence) will carry out his/her tasks within the United Nations Global Service Center (UNGSC) Office in Valencia, Spain and will report to the RDM Delivery Lead or designated personnel. The personnel will be responsible for the following duties:

Summary of Key Functions:

  • Business Intelligence (BI) and Data analysis and development
  • BI and Data support and maintenance
  • Analysis and documentation

Expected Results:

  • BI and Data analysis and development
    • Analyze and translate business requirements and develop SAP HANA Views and SAP Business Warehouse (BW) data models;
    • Lead the analysis of the requirements and development of visualizations and reporting solutions;
    • Design and develop reports and visualization products using toolslike SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) and SAP Business Objects (BO);
    • Coordinate the implementation of Extract, Transformation and Load (ETL) processes to bring data from various data sources into data repositories and warehouses;
  • BI and Data support and maintenance
    • Ensure the performance of data sanity checks and unit testing of reports; coordinate the participation in end-user testing for bug fixing and issues resolution;
    • Act as main focal point for communication with SAP Basis and other operation teams to ensure recommendations on performance, security, and user interface are provided;
    • Oversee Work Orders assessment and ensure fixes are applied by troubleshooting and resolving reporting and BI incidents and problems;
    • Monitor and apply performance improvements to ETL processes;
    • Analyze and investigate BI issues and apply fixes as / when needed
  • Analysis and documentation
    • Manage the documentation and activities performed.
  • Perform other duties as may be reasonably required and in line with the incumbent’s scope of services above.

IMPACT OF RESULTS The ICT Associate is responsible to ensure that Umoja data and BI deployment through the entire Organization across various process and functional areas using standard processes and tools in a timely and effective manner.

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education:**

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • A University degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) or technical diploma in Applied Mathematics, Electronics, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems /Technology, Engineering or related field is an asset and may substitute for some of the required years of experience.

Experience:

Required:

  • A minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible professional experience in the field of ICT, Electronics, Information Systems, or other related fields is required.
  • A minimum three (3) years of experience with SQL Data Warehouse or SAP HANA or SAP BW or SAP ERP or ABAP development.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with data integration, cleansing, ETL related areas.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with Microsoft SQL or any other database tool.

Desirable:

  • Experience in solving analytical problems using quantitative techniques.
  • Experience in SAP HANA and SAP HANA XSA.
  • Experience in Self-Service Analytics and Data Science.
  • Experience in SAP ERP in logistic areas (SAP TM, MM, SRM, PM, etc.).
  • Experience in ABAP Programming.
  • Experience in SAP BW Process Chains and SAP Data Services.
  • Ability to take high level, loosely-defined business problems and identify precise, quantitative solutions.

Language Requirements: - Fluency in English (write, read, speak) is required. - Knowledge of another UN language is an asset.
