Enabling young people to realise their full social, economic and human potential is a key aspect of UNFPA's mandate. In order for UNFPA to deliver on its mandate it relies heavily on technology. The ICT Assistant will provide technical support in relation to installation and servicing of digital devices to ensure effective man roll-out and assistance to staff and personnel needs.

Assist staff in the efficient/effective use of software and IT systems in general. Install and configure PCs, printers and other IT equipment in the office. Install multimedia equipment's for meetings, webinars, workshops, and other events supported by UNFPA. Transform and re-format information from staff members into user-friendly presentations for management attention, meetings, workshops, and events in general. Update the CO computers anti-virus and security software on a weekly basis. Ensures effective functioning of the CO hardware and software packages Provide technical support related to internet, e-mails, printers and software to the office; Track and maintain the inventory of all ICT equipment of the country office. Keep all system discs/drivers, electronic and paper base library of the Country Office Liaise with any other UN agencies to ensure quality services of ICT under any common services arrangements related to ICT. Support network administration, including assisting staff to back up in UNFPA cloud infrastructure, back up logs and restoration procedures; trouble-shooting network problems and responding to user needs regarding network access. Other related tasks as required.

Information technology field similar to the advertised post. Good knowledge of PC/LAN operating systems, Microsoft Windows, corporate ICT security and viral protection systems. Good knowledge of switches, routers and wireless access points Excellent Knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office, Google applications, HTML, Networking, Computer Systems. Additional qualifications of certificate or diploma in MIS or Website development would be a marked advantage. Networking courses or trainings desirable. Knowledge in video conferencing software and live stream production. Good judgment and initiative. Good proficiency in English and report writing skills.

The cost of living in Accra, Ghana, is relatively higher compared to other countries in the sub- region, mainly as a result of the volatility of the local currency against the US dollar. The incumbent will reside in the capital city of Accra, Ghana. Ghana is currently classified as hardship category A. This confirms that transport, medical, education and other services are at a high level compared to other countries in the region. At sea level, the climate of the country is tropical hot and humid with average yearly temperatures of about 27C (80F) and little daily variation. At the interior's higher altitudes, the average yearly temperature is 20C (68F), and nights are generally cool. Annual rainfall varies from 500 centimeters (200 in.) on the southwestern slopes to 100 centimeters (40 in.) in the northern lowlands. The rainy season runs from October to May. Ghana is a Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) country and a family duty station. The total population of Ghana is about 30.8 million' with 50.7 percent of the population being females. The population under 15 years (children) is 35.3 percent, 15-64 (working aged) is 60.4 percent and the aged 65 years and over represent 4.3 percent of the population. The population residing in the urban areas is 56.6 percent2 an increase from 2010 of 50.9 percent. Currently the country is youthful with 73.4 percent of the population aged 0-35 years.
