This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

The National UNV forms part of the Operations Team, coordinated by the International Operations Manager and under the overall supervision of the UNFPA Representative, which delivers efficient operational support in support of CO Programme delivery. The UNV ICT and logistics Associate works in close collaboration with ICT/Procurement and Logistics Associate to support the management of the organization’s resources, assisting in implementing ICT standards and applications, managing data, information, and workflow. You will provide ICT and Logistics support services and daily technical support to CO staff.

Under the direct supervision of the ICT/Procurement and Logistics Associate, the National UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

ICT support • Supporting the implementation of ICT management systems and strategies; complying with corporate information technology standards for the CO, supporting the use of Enterprise Resource Planning systems for improved business results and improved client services; • Ensuring effective functioning of CO hardware and software packages; performing technical functions, including assisting with the installation and repair of commercial and in-house hardware and software applications; assisting with routine repairs, application management, maintaining supplies inventory; monitoring of server traffic and performance; provision of support in backing up and restoring files, and virus prevention; • Ensuring ICT security through restriction of administrative rights to prevent the loading of unauthorized software; ensuring that desktop, laptop, and server passwords and related policies are in line with established corporate standards; • Supporting networks administration, including the establishment of offsite backup, backup logs, and restoration procedures; troubleshooting network problems and responding to user needs regarding network access; • Providing administrative support by managing software, hardware, and parts, including the maintenance of an up-to-date inventory; maintaining CO databases and providing orientation and coaching to staff; maintaining a library of ICT-related reference materials; preparation of statistical reports as required.

Logistics support • Prepare and monitor overall logistic support plans in collaboration with ICT/Procurement & Logistics Associate • Verify the Receipt of commodities and or services rendered to UNFPA Angola in order to be processed by the finance section for payment; • Follow up with the suppliers and ensure that purchases of goods and services are properly delivered. • Assist the ICT/Procurement and Logistics – Associate in the preparation of reports, and other matters related to inventory, stock control, and warehouse activities; • Maintain the Organization’s Logistics Management tools (Order Tracker (OTS) and Shipment); • Assist the ICT/Procurement and Logistics – Associate in the preparation and follow-up on all the shipping documents with the customs c clearance offices; • Assist the Asset Focal point in asset management;
• Maintains the inventory and stock of supplies and spare parts; • Performs any other duties as required.

network administration, support to the management of hardware and software platforms, telecommunications facilities, and knowledge of Windows-based packages/applications; • Good knowledge of PC/LAN operating systems, Microsoft Windows, corporate ICT security and viral protection systems, ERP; • Some experience in client support, such as a Help Desk or User Support Unit. • Some experience in logistics management. • Fully proficient in Portuguese. Working knowledge of English is required. • Be capable of taking initiative and coping under pressure. • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel • Relevant certifications in hardware and software management and application including Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP);

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. This position is based in the UN Building/Luanda/ Angola National UN Volunteers are part of the malicious insurance plan. National UN Volunteers are expected to be culturally sensitive and adjust to the prevailing culture and traditions.

Conditions of Service for national UN Volunteers

The contract lasts for the period indicated above with possibility of extensions subject to availability of funding, operational necessity and satisfactory performance. However, there is no expectation of renewal of the assignment. The applicable Volunteer Living Allowance is provided monthly to cover housing, utilities and normal cost of living expenses. Life, health and permanent disability insurance are included (health insurance for up to 3 dependents - except for UN Community Volunteers), as well as final repatriation (if applicable).
