Job Summary

The ICM (Intensive Case Management) Afghan Housing Specialist position contributes to building capacity through the assistance of procuring permanent housing, including outreach to new landlords, coordinating, and executing housing set up, and ensuring diverse housing options that are safe, sanitary, and affordable. The ICM Afghan Housing Logistic Specialist will be working under ORR’s Preferred Communities (PC) program to provide housing solutions to Afghan Humanitarian Parolees enrolled in PC services.

Major Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Identify and secure safe, sanitary, and affordable housing for Afghan Humanitarian Parolee clients in compliance within ORR’s program guidelines for Preferred Communities.

· Conduct ongoing outreach to current and potential landlords, property managers, housing partners, including community partners in extended placement opportunities. Building strong working relationships with the goal of increasing access to housing for clients.

· Coordinate logistics of housing set-ups including ordering furniture and supplies and arranging delivery, arranging utility hook-ups, facilitating lease signings and renewals, arranging payments, conducting housing orientations, and conducting home safety inspections.

· Ensure all Apartment and Agency Letter of Understandings along with the leases are up to date, signed and uploaded into the file for each client.

· Communicate regularly with ICM/APA Caseworkers and the ICM/APA Coordinator on all operational and service delivery issues, ensuring strong coordination and exchange of information.

· Ensure housing case notes are accurate and timely according to service compliance.

· Satisfy recordkeeping requirements.

· Use personal, insured vehicle and/or public transportation (where available) to travel and transport clients and materials as needed throughout the service delivery area.

· May train and lead the activities of support staff, volunteers, and interns.

· Comply with all IRC policies, procedures and protocols including adherence to the IRC Way and Child Safeguarding.

· Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.

Job Requirements:

· Undergraduate degree preferred, ideally in Social Work or an equivalent field of study.

· Demonstrated relevant work experience (in addition to the above) in human services field, preferably in a non-profit or social services agency environment.

· Experience should include a minimum of 2 years providing direct service to underserved communities.

· Lived experience as refugee or immigrant. In lieu of lived experience, experience working with refugees and/or immigrants; cross-cultural or overseas experience accepted. Strong preference of experience with ORR’s Preferred Communities program.

· Proven ability to contribute both independently and as a key team member, self- starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the consistent record to multi-task, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and strong keyboarding skills and internet usage and research skills.

· Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle with current insurance, and the ability to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area (home visits, agency visits, service provider visits etc).

· Fluent in English, both spoken and written; ability to communicate in Dari, and Pashto is desired.

Working Environment:

· A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities.

· May require weekend and/or evening work.
