Result of Service A. Support to the Executive training 1. Coordinate the development of the concept note , session templates and agenda of the executive training, based on the evaluation of the 2d training (June 2022) 2. Draft invitations and manage registrations (October 2022) 3. Support the development and population of a webpage for the Executive Training and a dedicated section to host the content on the ESCAP eLearning platform (October 2022) 4. Supporting coordination with colleagues on content development (draft template for presentations, gathering of concept notes for specific sessions and background material, backdrop for speakers) (October 2022) 5. Support the post training evaluation and delivery of certificates (December 2022)

B. Support to the writing of the flagship report 1. Undertake additional research and identification of case studies on One Heath, air pollution and climate change, in alignment with existing and to be developed policy briefs (April 2022) 2. Development of the extended draft and support with the review process (August 2022) 3. Development of the executive summary (September 2022) 4. Support to finalization of the final report and oversight of the design of the report (October 2022)

Duties and Responsibilities Support, through research, project management and communication, a range of environmental projects coordinated by ESCAP EDD’s Office of the Director:

1. The ESCAP Executive Training on Environment and Development is a yearly event targeting senior policy makers and raising their capacity on thematic areas/EDD work streams covered by the Committee on Environment and Development, including raising climate ambition; - safeguarding ecosystems health; - clean air for all; - cities for a sustainable future; and - environmental governance. The third edition of the Executive Training will be held virtually over 5 days in November 2022, ahead of the 7th Committee on Environment and Development. 2. A flagship report on "Protecting our Planet through Regional Cooperation and Solidarity in Asia and the Pacific" is being developed to inform discussions during the 7th Committee on Environment and Development at the Ministerial level. The report is to be released in October 2022.

Under the direct supervision of the project manager and general supervision of the Chief, Environment and Development Policy Section, the consultant will complete the following duties:

1. Provide support coordination of the organization and content development for the Executive Training through gathering input from EDD colleagues on the agenda and concept note, supporting the coordination for the development of harmonious presentations/training material and supporting communication and logistical aspects. 2. Provide support for the writing of the EDD flagship report, by providing additional research and case studies as required on air pollution, one health and climate change and overseeing the design of the report.

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: Master's degree in environmental science or related area Experience: Experiences in organizing and facilitating meetings/workshops, in providing scientific research support and in implementing environmental projects. Experience working with UN agencies on water issues and organizing environment-related meetings is an advantage Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
