The post of Humanitarian Specialist, Gender based Violence (GBV) is located in Aden Office of Yemen and reports to the head of Aden office.

Job Purpose

The Humanitarian Specialist will ensure quality implementation of GBV programming, actively participate in sub-national working groups and co-chair GBV working group meeting in Aden. He/She will develop strong, collaborative relationships across the organization and with external partners; ensure the application of effective programme planning, monitoring and evaluation principles; identify bottlenecks in GBV in humanitarian programmatic implementation and devise strategies to address them; and provide leadership to ensure that technical knowledge is updated and disseminated for effective implementation.

Education:

  • Master's degree, in international relations/humanitarian law, social anthropology or related fields;

Knowledge and Experience:

  • 5 years of progressively responsible professional work experience with a minimum of 2 years of experience in humanitarian and relief operations;
  • Experience in GBV in the context of emergency response is essential;
  • Knowledge and understanding of UN humanitarian relief operations and procedures is essential
  • Fluency in English is essential, good working knowledge in Arabic is an asset;
  • Experience in programme coordination and GBV Programming
