Result of Service

At the completion of the contracted days, the consultant will have contributed to the following outcomes: 1) Finalization and dissemination of a revised monthly newsletter on access; 2) Improved online community of practice platform, including easy and interactive access to key access guidance and training tools; 3) Finalization and dissemination of the Global Access Inventory 2023; 4) Design of the OCHA Global Access training

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Global Access Advisor and the Section Chief, the consultant will be in charge of the following: • Develop a new format and define a revised content for the OCHA monthly access newsletter, with particular emphasis on exchange of good practices and lessons learned between practitioners; • Adapt existing OCHA guidance and training access tools, such as the OCHA minimum package of services on access and the OCHA Access in Practice series, to make sure they are accessible online on the OCHA access community of practice platform;Conduct quantitative and qualitative data analysis on humanitarian access for the annual OCHA Global Access Inventory; • Review feedback and lessons learned from past OCHA global access workshop and develop a concept and provisional agenda for the next iteration, to be held in the first half of 2024; • Consultation with OCHA country and regional offices, other OCHA sections and partners as relevant; • Participate in any meeting relevant to the above activities.

Qualifications/special skills

A first-level university degree in political science, social science, international relations, international human rights and/or related field is required. Master in International Relations, International Law or equivalent is desirable. A minimum of 1 year of experience in research and analysis on issues related to international humanitarian law is required. Experience in Humanitarian Affairs - with a focus on humanitarian access is desirable. Experience in Inter-agency coordination is desirable.

Languages

Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
