You have:
- Minimum age: 22 years old.

- Bachelor degree or equivalent required.
- University degree in social sciences, public health, nursing, medicine, gender or other related social science / development studies.
- A minimum of two years of increasingly responsible professional experience in the humanitarian field or a closely related field is required.
- Experience in health or health-related areas, preferably with some experience in sexual and reproductive health, gender and development issues.
- English fluency is mandatory.
- Somali fluency is mandatory.

Contract
This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

Description of task
Under the overall guidance of the UNFPA assistant Representative for Garowe sub-office the humanitarian officer provides programmatic and technical support and coordination to ensure strong partnerships and collaboration with the United Nations (UN) as well as with national and international counterparts in a comprehensive multi-sectorial prevention and response in UNFPA mandate areas with particular focus on Sexual and Reproductive Health and gender-based violence (GBV) in emergencies. This response includes a close cooperation with Health and protection Cluster partners to ensure RH and GBV needs in humanitarian settings are met. UNFPA is the Lead on the RH and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Sub-Clusters as well as the Coordinator for the RH Capacity Development programme, which the incumbent will assist in coordinating.
The UNV humanitarian officer will be based in Garowe duty station, with direct supervision of Assistant Representative/ Head of Puntland office and works closely with RH/MH programme Specialist so as to help carry out SRH programme operations related tasks
