  • Previous work experience as a team member.
  • Excellent discipline and ability to follow direct instructions.
  • Driving license and experience of driving is desirable.

Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocateandpromote durable solutions for displacement affected populations. DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 800 staff in Ukraineandimplements emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs andHumanitarianDisarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using directinterventions, supportto duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships withCSOs. DRC will continueand adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context. DRC is currently looking for a Deminer in Sumy.

About the job: Considering the specifics of work in the field of humanitarian demining, the general rules, methods and technologies by which humanitarian demining is carried out are described in detail in the standard operating procedures (hereinafter referred to as the SOP) and the current regulations of the Representative Office of the Danish Refugee Council in Ukraine (hereinafter referred to as the DRC). Permit for independent work of Deminer is carried out after training and checking knowledge of the SOP.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Complete all mandatory training as determined by the Mine Action Program Coordinator.
  • Conduct safe demining procedures strictly in accordance with the instructions of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); adhere to the SOPs established for the demining procedure; applythe proper marking system as specified in the SOPs.
  • Maintain your personal protective equipment in good condition, clean it regularly and check for anydamage.
  • Maintain equipment and tools in proper cleanliness, working condition and in a complete set,including the detector and demining tools.
  • Be responsible for your own safety and maintain discipline at all times while on the work site; beresponsible for the safety of others working around you.
  • Assist with non-technical and technical surveys of areas; work hard to ensure the effectiveness of the entire team.
  • Follow the instructions of the Team Lead; immediately report any threats to the safety of the teamand/or others to the Team Lead.
