Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations.

DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 700 staff in Ukraine and will continue significant scale-up in 2024 to implement emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC will continue and adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context.

DRC is currently looking for a Humanitarian Mine Action Team Lead n Kharkiv.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Ensure team members adhere to the DRC HDP SOPs at all times.
  • Ensure that the team has the required clearance equipment prior to leaving the base.
  • Ensure the equipment is in working order and has appropriate spares prior to leaving the base.
  • Physically check for abnormalities in the cleared area of the clearance task every morning prior to start of work.
  • Brief the team daily prior to starting work.
  • Deploy the team in accordance with the TIP.
  • Have control of the task site at all times.
  • Ensure the Paramedic maintains communications with DRC HDP radio room, prior to commencing work and during the working day.
  • Ensure the Paramedic updates the daily team attendance record (site briefing board) and informs the DS and Radio Room.
  • Ensure the Paramedic and driver keep the ambulance clean and tidy at all times.
  • Brief and ensure the safety of all visitors to the task sites.
  • Ensure that the site briefing board is updated daily.
  • Ensure that all reports and log books are updated daily.
  • Ensure the team remove their mobile phones and all metal and jewellery prior to leaving the Control Point (CP).
  • Follow up on observations identified by the QC/QA visit and be rectified within the time frame given.
  • Conduct daily QC/QA as by the TIP.
  • Oversee CASEVAC exercises planned by the paramedic.
  • Be responsible for submitting logistical requests to the DS with the minimum of 2 weeks’ notice for procurement.
  • Prepare, maintain and control necessary stores/equipment for the team and have an equipment list on site.
  • By the end of each cycle organize equipment check, cleaning and adequate storage. Equipment check report to be submitted to DS.
  • Report faulty/damaged clearance equipment to the DS.
  • Ensure full set of documents at the task site.
  • Carry out other tasks as dictated by changing circumstances or as required by the DS/TA/TFM.

About you:

To be successful in this role we expect you to:

• Education: basic (incomplete) higher education or junior specialist level.

• Work experience: At least 2 years of humanitarian demining or similar positions.

• Basic PC skills (MSWord, Excel).

• Fluency in the state Ukrainian language, as well as knowledge of foreign languages at a level sufficient for work.

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National Staff.
