Duties and Responsibilities
Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background and duties may include but are not limited to: • Support the monitoring, analysis, and reporting on humanitarian action or disaster. • Supports advocacy initiatives on issues related to humanitarian needs through the collection of information, liaison with humanitarian partners, government officials, the media, etc. • Actively engages in working groups, meetings, conferences, and consultations with other agencies and partners on humanitarian and emergency response matters. • Assisting in the daily work of the office including the development of road map, and coordination with other branches of OCHA. • provision of operations and logistics support • contributes to the various reports, documents and communications, e.g. drafts sections of surveys, background papers, parliamentary documents, briefings, case studies, presentations, correspondence, taking notes, talking points, etc. • Prepare information materials for humanitarian advocacy and sharing with other partners. • Performs other duties as required
Qualifications/special skills
To qualify for an internship with the UN Internship programme, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
• Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or • Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (bachelor's level or equivalent); Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme; or Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one- year period of graduation from an academic programme. in political and/or social science, international relations, public administration, law, ec
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship fluency in English and Arabic (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage
