1. Role and responsibilities
The following is a brief description of the role.
- Support access innovation initiatives, including development of strategies, workplan, tools and guidelines for management of NRC’s access in Somalia
- Provide access analysis based on program operation demand and in consultation with field staff
- Provide area-based access analysis supporting operational implementation or program development, including recommendations on how to address issues as they arise
- Work with program unit to ensure access elements are included in program design and reporting
- Identify training needs, and support or conduct training initiatives for field staff in Somalia for humanitarian access, including humanitarian principles, and negotiations
- Contribute to advocacy efforts related to access, in close coordination with the Protection and Advocacy Advisers
- Collaborate with Security to monitor, analyze and respond to overlapping access and security constraints and incidents
- Support NRC Global to refine and further develop and field test strategies, trainings, tools and guidance (access strategy and negotiations)
- Contribute to NRC regional and global access discussions, development of tools and strategies, and documentation and organizational learning through sharing lessons learned and best practices from Somalia CO
1. Professional competencies
These are skills, knowledge and experience that are important for effective performance.
Generic professional competencies for this position:
- Minimum 3 years of experience from working as a Security/Humanitarian Access Manager/Advisor in a humanitarian/recovery context
- Masters level education or related Field
- Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
- Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal
Context/skills, knowledge and experience:
- Excellent command of English
- Knowledge of the context in of Somalia or similar contexts
- Somalia language is an asset

Duty station: Mogadishu
Travel: 40%
