Overview

Monitor and document women's rights violations in Gaza.

You have:

• Advanced University degree in law, political science, international relations or related disciplines to human rights is required.
• A combination of a Bachelor’s degree and two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
• Demonstrated experience in working on women’s rights is required.
• Legal training is desirable.
• Knowledge of international human rights law is desirable.
• Familiarity with Gaza’s justice systems is desirable.
• Arabic and English are required, Hebrew is desirable.

Result of Service - A weekly written update about the work progress to Gaza Head of Office and oPt Monitoring Team Leader. - A minimum of 4 cases of possible violations of women’s rights monitored, documented and analysed in accordance with OHCHR monitoring methodology. - Two visits were successfully conducted to the female detention facility in Gaza and documentation completed. - A high-quality research report is produced regarding the three justice systems and gender-based violence cases (40 pages).

Duties and Responsibilities The core of the work includes:

• Monitoring and documenting emblematic cases of violations of women’s rights;
• Supporting monitoring and documenting the treatment of women in detention;

• Conducting research on three justice systems in Gaza (formal justice system, Sharia court system, and mediation system) and their handling on women’s rights cases.

  Qualifications/special skills Advanced University degree preferably in law, political science, international relations or other disciplines related to human rights is required. A combination of a Bachelor’s degree and two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Legal training is desirable. international relations or another topic of direct relevance to human rights, with a preference for specialization on human rights is required. Demonstrated experience in working on women’s rights is required. Legal training is desirable. Knowledge of international human rights law is desirable. Familiarity with Gaza’s justice systems is desirable.

  Languages Arabic and English are required, Hebrew is desirable.
