This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

The UNV will work to support the monitoring and reporting mandate of the OHCHR Gaza Sub-Office.

Under the direct supervision of the Head of the Gaza sub-office, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks: • Assist in gathering of information and documentation of specific cases of human rights violations, including supporting of interviewing victims and witnesses. • Assist in analyzing factual information collected in light of Palestinian domestic law. • Assist in analyzing provisions of Palestinian domestic law in light of international hu-man rights law. • Assist capacity-building activities including organisation of meetings, communication with partners, and related tasks. • Assist the office in the maintenance of a strong network of local partners for the regu-lar exchange of information, including through social media and other means. • Assist the office to ensure the integration of gender perspectives and attention to spe-cific women rights issues within all OHCHR activities. • Assist in drafting and preparing public information material including social media up-dates, PowerPoint presentations and other written material.

• Experience in legal analysis and/or with the legal system in OPT. • Fully proficient computer skills including use of relevant software and other applications, e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, internal databases, internet mining, etc. • Knowledge of and experience working on women’s rights issues desirable.

The duty station for the assignment will be Gaza, which is a non-family duty station. As is the case for UN staff and partners, the volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. National UN Volunteers are part of the malicious insurance plan. Settling-In-Grant will be provided in the event duty station is not within commuting distance from the place of recruitment. A Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of ILS 3644.5 is provided monthly to cover housing, utilities and normal cost of living expenses. Life, health and permanent disability insurance are included (health insurance for up to 3 dependents), as well as final repatriation (if applicable) and resettlement allowance for satisfactory service. Hardship allowance equivalent to 30% of VLA is provided for UNVs in Gaza.
