IRC Hellas has been active in Greece since 2015 and currently has offices in Athens and Lesvos and implements protection, mental health and psychosocial support, livelihoods, and integration programs.

Type of Contract: Fixed term, 1 year with the possibility of extension

Job Overview/Summary

The HR Manager is responsible for all the operational HR matters in all the locations where the organization operates.

Leads and is in charge of the human resources function of the country program including compliance with the Greek registration, recruitment, performance management, HR policies, administration, registrations, employee relations, and any other relevant functions and initiatives.

Reports to the Head of Office and is technically supported by the Regional HR Partner, to roll out global HR initiatives. Ensuring that local HR policies and procedures are up to date and in compliance with Greek legislation.

Major Responsibilities

• IRC Way: model, promote and uphold a culture of values as reflected in our code of conduct, The IRC Way: Standards for Professional Conduct – Integrity, Service, Accountability, and Equality.

• HR policies and compliance: Is in charge of HR policies, practices, and processes in response to employee and/or supervisor requests, maintaining compliance with internal and external standards and applicable labor laws, and the development and refinement of key HR lifecycle processes as needed.

• Employee Relations: facilitate resolution of escalated issues related to basic employee welfare needs regarding benefits, payroll, and general employee questions.

• Employee Relations: Is the focal point to support the resolution of sensitive employee relations matters and workplace investigations.

• Talent Acquisition: in conjunction with hiring managers and recruiter(s), Is responsible for coordinating all aspects of recruitment processes including job description development, job postings, review of resumes, interviewing, reference checks, background checks, and job offers.

• Talent Acquisition: provide onboarding of new staff, with the goal to ensure new hire and orientation practices are implemented in accordance with IRC standards.

• Talent Management: Under the direction and with the collaboration of the Regional HR Partner support the development of a local talent-development strategy and supervise implementation.

• HR Administration: Coordinate and monitor contract renewals and terminations; all staff-related entry and exit documentation upon hire and at exits after the end of assignments.

• HR administration: Assures keeping the files and records in coherence with IRC standards and in line with country legislation.

• HR Administration: Responsible for the HR Master file and Workday database (inclusive of the leave database, timesheets, etc). Supervise the regular update of the personnel records filing system ensuring that information is filed in an orderly and timely manner.

• Is the focal point to provide cost analysis, related to budgets, accruals of bonuses, terminations, and business scenarios as required.

• Leads one to two team members.

• Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• University studies/ Higher education in Human Resources, Business administration, or related fields.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role/managerial role. Professional experience with INGOs/NGOs and/or international experience is a plus; interest in the humanitarian field is preferred.

• Showed sense of professional discretion, integrity, and ability to handle situations diplomatically and to effective resolution.

• Cultural awareness and sensitivity and interest and exposure to Gender, Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion matters.

• Strong management, interpersonal and negotiation skills and a demonstrated ability to promote harmonious/cohesive collaboration, in a cross-cultural context.

• Diplomatic and strong acumen in establishing positive working relationships with employees and all other stakeholders to increase collaboration and efficiency.

• Excellent presentation and training skills

• Demonstrable track record in developing the capacity of staff

• The ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and with employees from all levels.

• Very strong proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.

• Fluent in English and Greek.

Professional Standards

• All IRC staff are required to adhere to THE IRC Way Standards for Professional Conduct and the IRC country employment policies

• Maintain confidentiality

• While in transit sites, all IRC staff must wear appropriate IRC visibility

Working Environment: The position will be based in Athens with occasional travel to the rest of the locations.
