You have:
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate programme and have completed at least two years of the programme.
- Currently enrolled in a graduate programme and have attended classes in the last 12 months.
- Recent graduate within six months prior to application and attended classes in the last 12 months.
- Experience utilizing computer programmes, including Powerpoint, Microsoft Word, Excel.
- Fluency in both oral and written English Language and Portuguese.
- Knowledge of a second official UN language is an asset.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
Angola is a resource-rich country that has made substantial economic and political progress since the end of civil war in 2002. With a new reform-oriented government, Angola now has a window of opportunity to begin a period of more inclusive and sustainable growth that supports equitable outcomes.
Apart from the humanitarian challenges that the country faces as the host of refugees and asylum-seekers, food insecurity and undernutrition remain serious public health problems, which are driven by a range of factors including poverty, limited dietary diversity, poor sanitation and hygiene conditions, and gender inequality. The food security situation is further exacerbated by a severe drought in the south and center of Angola. A comparison of rainfall and vegetation cover data since 1981 indicates that the southwestern provinces experienced the worst drought in the last 40 years in October 2020 – May 2021.
WFP is working with the Government of Angola and a broad range of partners towards the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 2 (Zero Hunger) and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide assistance on general HR queries and follow up actions, to ensure consistent and high-quality HR services are delivered to clients. • Liaise with other internal units/offices on HR related matters, i.e. payroll, contracts, etc. and provide necessary information in order to enable timely HR services. • Extract and compile HR data on staff recruitment and selection, contractual conditions, entitlements, performance, and training requirements, to support analysis and reporting needs. • Provide administrative support in various HR activities in the areas of work allocated by the professional officer including on boarding of new staff members in compliance with relevant processes and procedures. • Maintain confidential personnel records, HR databases and archives, to ensure data and files are accurately stored and updated in compliance with the established standards. • Draft various HR documentation required for the specific area of work (e.g. employment contracts, transfer letters, training-related documents, etc.) ensuring accuracy and meeting established deadlines. • Use HR management systems for entering and updating a variety of HR data including assistance in monitoring various deadlines (e.g. contract expiration, PACE, etc.), ensuring compliance with the established deadlines and accuracy of HR data. • Support staff deployment and related administrative actions including preparation of basic reports, to facilitate efficient HR service enabling WFP to respond quickly to a crisis.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate programme (for example, Bachelor’s degree) and have completed at least two years of the programme as well as have attended classes in the last 12 months;
- Currently enrolled in a graduate programme (for example, Masters and have attended classes in the last 12 months
- Recent graduate (from an undergraduate or graduate programme) within six months prior to application to the internship and attended classes in the last 12 months of enrolment with the university.
Preferred field of study:Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Psychology, Social Science
Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience utilizing computer programmes, including Powerpoint, Microsoft Word, Excel
- Interest in media, current news and regional politics
- Accurate, creative open-minded team player with strong initiative and willingness to learn
Language:
Fluency in both oral and written English Language) and Portuguese Knowledge of a second official UN language an asset
CONTRACTUAL INFORMATION
- Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP up to the maximum amount of US$1000 per month depending on the duty station of assignment.
- WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, necessary visas and related costs.
- WFP will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognised institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education;
