Organizational Setting

The Shared Services Centre (SSC) is a centre of excellence focused on the delivery of high quality and cost effective administrative services for FAO globally. The SSC ensures the management of quality assurance activities associated with its transactional processes and service delivery; continuously improves the satisfaction of its customers, internal or external, while pursuing a continuous improvement agenda that will drive up service excellence while driving down the costs of service delivery through process standardization, process automation and self-service capabilities.

The HR Specialist will be based in the FAO Shared Services Centre located in Budapest, Hungary.

Reporting Lines

The HR Specialist will report to a Human Resources Officer in the HR Unit of the FAO Shared Services Centre.

Technical Focus

Compliance and service delivery in the field of human resources.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Provide the delivery of comprehensive human resources support services related to the administration of entitlements and benefits;
  • Ensure compliance with relevant policies and regulations as well as transparency and consistency of transactions and procedures;
  • Handle non-routine and complex cases;
  • Undertake research and analysis of entitlements and draft correspondence for Human Resources Officers;
  • Research, compile and analyze information and statistics related to entitlement activities; prepare briefs, reports or topical papers on trends;
  • Review computer assisted processing of HR actions;
  • Regularly review the dependency benefit entitlements, check eligibility/status changes, take appropriate action and maintain accurate records, ensuring that relevant policies and regulations are adhered to;
  • Participate in ad hoc assignments on data quality and specific projects on streamlining processes and procedures;
  • Handle confidential matters and carry out various functions servicing staff;
  • Provide information to staff or client divisions with regard to HR procedures;
  • Perform other related duties as required;

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

  • National of Hungary or able to work in Hungary at the time of the application
  • University degree in management, business administration, law or related disciplines
  • Three years of relevant experience in administrative and human resources support work
  • Working knowledge (Level C) of English
  • Very good knowledge of the MS Office applications, Internet and office technology equipment

Technical/Functional Skills

  • Extent and relevance of experience of using corporate computerized administrative systems such as Oracle, SAP, etc. to process and analyze data
  • Extent and relevant of experience of handling complex administrative cases and drafting relevant correspondence
  • Familiarity with communication and documentation standards

Selection Criteria

  • Work experience in an HR department in the United Nations system would be an asset
  • Limited knowledge of another UN official language would be an asset (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish).
