In the Pacific we work in Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu: These 14 Pacific island countries are home to 2.3 million people, including 1.2 million children and youth, living on more than 660 islands and atolls stretching across 17.2 million square kilometers of the Pacific Ocean, an area comparable to the combined size of the United States of America and Canada. Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Solomon Islands, and Tuvalu are classified as Fragile States according to World Bank/OECD criteria.

How can you make a difference?

The UNICEF Pacific Multi-Country Office is hiring a HR Associate for our office in Suva, Fiji. Under the supervision of the Human Resources Manager and guidance by the HR Officers, this Human Resources Associate provides administrative, procedural and operational support and assistance to the efficient implementation of a broad range of Human Resources functions for all categories of staff in 6 offices and Pacific Island duty stations, ensuring accurate and timely delivery that is in compliance with UNICEF HR rules and regulations.

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

  • Support to recruitment and placement
  • Support to onboarding and offboarding
  • Support in administering entitlements and benefits of local staff
  • Support to strategic workforce planning and organization design
  • Support in learning and capacity development

  • Support to staff performance management

  • Support to staff wellbeing

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education:

  • Completion of secondary education is required, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses related to Human Resources. A bachelor’s degree from a recognized academic institution in a relevant field may replace three years of related work experience. A master’s degree may replace an additional two years.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible administrative or clerical work experience is required.
  • Work experience in the UN or similar organizations is an asset.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another local language is an asset.
