Overview

Assist in managing intern programmes and community engagement.

You have:

  • Candidate age: between 18 and 29 throughout the entire duration of their assignment.
  • Applicants must be students of any academic program (BA/BSc, Masters, PhD) and keep this status during the whole duration of their assignment, or be recent graduates.
  • A first-level university degree in communications, human resources, international relations, social sciences or related field.
  • 12 months of relevant experience in human resources management and development, online events organization, and community management.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team with diverse international personnel.
  • Solid overall computer literacy, proficiency in MS Office applications, and familiarity with database management.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimum supervision and tight deadlines.

Contract

This is a UNV International University contract. This kind of contract is known as International UN Volunteer. It is normally internationally recruited only. More about UNV International University contracts.

Eligibility criteria

Candidate age: between 18 and 29 throughout the entire duration of their assignment, except the assignments in Headquarters duty stations. Nationals of the country of assignment are not eligible. Applicants must be students of any academic program (BA/BSc, Masters, PhD) and keep this status during the whole duration of their assignment, or be recent graduates.

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Human Resources Officers responsible for the Internship Programme or their designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer will:

  • Assist with the development of networking events for interns including webinars and workshops;
  • Assist with the onboarding process for interns developing specific guidelines for both interns and supervisors;
  • Assist with the development of a career development plan for interns including coaching sessions;
  • Collect testimonials from interns to showcase the programme and raise awareness;
  • Assist with the maintenance of the Internship Community on SharePoint page to provide information to interns on upcoming events and other general information;
  • Maintain Social Network Groups for interns (Yammer/Facebook) and invite current and former interns to be part of the community;
  • Share relevant news and posts within the groups to create awareness;
  • Manage the internship mailbox responding to queries from internal and external clients;
  • Support with additional tasks as needed

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities:

  • Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day);
  • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;
  • Provide annual and end of assignment self- reports on UN Volunteer actions, results and opportunities.
  • Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.;
  • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly arrived UN Volunteers;
  • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.
  • Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the UNICEF’s talent outreach and employer branding practices
  • Contribute to the preparation, development and execution for marketing and branding campaigns and talent outreach events

Qualifications/Requirements

Required degree level:

Bachelor degree or equivalent
