This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

Description of task

Under the supervision of the Human Resources Manager, the UNV Human Resources /Administrative Assistant will:

· Serve as the focal point for issuance/renewals of UN ID cards for all staff and personnel (FT/TAs, Consultants, Individual Contractors, international and national UNVs, Interns, standby partner personnel, etc.)

· Assist newly arrived international staff with administrative formalities related to their security/ground passes, opening of bank accounts, submission of completed Check in forms and related documents, liaising with Admin colleagues for travel and accommodation reservation;

· Serve as the HR business partner for UNVs including developing and maintaining the office’s leave record system for UNVs, in accordance with UNICEF rules and regulations, advising the personnel on the procedure to follow and ensuring that due processes are timely and duly followed;

· Maintain and generate automated databases containing HR related statistics and generating periodic reports, as relevant;

· Provide logistic support for HR related meetings, briefing sessions and workshops;

· Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignments and promote voluntary actions through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities:

· Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day);

· Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;

· Provide annual and end of assignment self-reports on UN Volunteer actions, results and opportunities.

· Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.;

· Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers;

· Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

Educational additional comments

Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Social Sciences, Business Administration, International Relations or other related fields.

Experience remark

· At least 5 years of progressively responsible administrative or clerical work experience is required.

· Experience in providing support in HR Management is an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization.
