The HRCRT Coordination and Reporting Officer reports to Chief Teaching and Learning Division - based at the Headquarters of the Education Department in Amman.
Responsibilities UNRWA has been engaged in the teaching of human rights conflict resolution and tolerance (HRCRT) for more than 20 years. In 2012, UNRWA adopted the HRCRT Policy to further strengthen the teaching and learning of HRCRT in UNRWA schools, harmonise and improve UNRWA’s approach to HRCRT education. In 2013, the HRCRT Toolkit was developed as a practical resource to equip teachers and school management with the tools they need to implement the HRCRT Policy and update their approach to teaching human rights. UNRWA has also elected School Parliaments, as part of its HRCRT Programme. Every year, UNRWA schools hold elections to form the School Parliaments and the elected students are tasked with representing all students and supporting their local communities. Building on the work undertaken, in November 2017 the former Commissioner-General launched the first Agency-Wide Student Parliament (ASP). The ASP comprises 22 members representing each geographical Area of the Agency’s five Fields of Operation. The overall goal of the establishment of the ASP is to increase the participation of UNRWA students across the Agency, as well as locally, regionally, and globally. UNRWA Department of Education at Headquarters (Amman) oversees the successful implementation of HRCRT Policy and Toolkit and supports School Parliaments in all UNRWA schools. The purpose of this post is to support the coordination and management of the Agency-wide HRCRT Education Programme through the achievement of the following tasks:
- Follows up with the HRCRT focal points in UNRWA’s five Fields of Operation to ensure timely and successful implementation of all HRCRT project activities.
- Collects and analyses the HRCRT Monitoring and Evaluation Tools from all UNRWA Fields to ensure continuous improvement in the quality of HRCRT teaching and learning provided by UNRWA.
- Facilitates communication between the UNRWA Education Department at Headquarters (Amman) and the HRCRT focal points in the Fields.
- Prepares project reports, concept / information notes and proposals to strengthen the implementation of the HRCRT programme across the Agency.
- Supports the implementation of the Agency-wide Student Parliament (ASP) activities and missions.
Translates HRCRT documents from Arabic to English and vice versa.

Special Notice Type of Contract: Limited Duration Contract (LDC), Band F.
The Limited Duration Contract applies to external candidates and UNRWA internal candidates on LDC.
Duration of Contract: 8 months from 01 March – 30 September 2023 (Renewable upon availability of Funds), satisfactory performance and continuing need.
Grade & Salary: LDC- Band F; monthly basic salary ranges JOD 1,057.70
