Key Task and Responsibilities

  • Facilitate provision of information about the Legal Identity and Housing land and property (HLP) rights and entitlements of beneficiaries.
  • Facilitate individual and group legal counselling from help desk, during mobiles visits and through the hotline.
  • Support and mobilize beneficiaries for enabling them to address their legal issues relating to the Legal identity and HLP rights independently.
  • Provide follow up and direct legal assistance on the issues which cannot be addressed by beneficiaries independently.
  • Liaison and collaborate with relevant local authorities and stakeholders.
  • Conduct trainings on Legal Identity, Housing land and property (HLP) rights and Collaborative Dispute Resolution (CDR) to NRC staff, stakeholders and beneficiaries.
  • Contribute to the legal analysis of HLP issues to inform NRC advocacy efforts, evidence-based HLP policy papers and guide counselling sessions with beneficiaries
  • Contribute to the monitoring and mapping exercises organized and/or participated by NRC
  • Cooperate with relevant NRC core competences and support units to develop integrated response to the beneficiaries needs
  • Perform any other tasks as requested by ICLA Coordinator / PM.

Key Education and Skills Requirements

  • LL.B from a University recognized by the Bar Standards Board
  • Proven expertise on HLP rights with strong knowledge on housing and land laws, procedures and practices in Bangladesh
  • Extensive experience working in the field with displaced and/or vulnerable groups and communities and government authorities
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts, experience in the Rohingya response
  • Experience from working with ICLA or similar project implementation position in an NGO/development context
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal, Oral proficiency in Chittagonian dialect
  • Excellent computer proficiency
