Contract

This is a Consultancy contract. More about Consultancy contracts.

UNICEF works in some of the world’s toughest places, to reach the world’s most disadvantaged children. To save their lives. To defend their rights. To help them fulfill their potential.

Across 190 countries and territories, we work for every child, everywhere, every day, to build a better world for everyone.

And we never give up.

For every child, results

How can you make a difference?

Strong capacity and leadership in coordinating a humanitarian nutrition response is fundamental to saving lives and scaling up nutrition programmes in a manner that is predictable, timely and effective. At a global level, the Global Nutrition Cluster (GNC) led by UNICEF, has made significant progress since 2006 in bringing together nutrition partners to support a coherent emergency response. As a part of its cluster lead agency responsibilities, UNICEF is responsible for supporting capacity building among UNICEF staff and partners in the areas of cluster coordination, information management and nutrition in emergencies programming.

Maintaining and scaling up global capacity in nutrition cluster coordination and nutrition information management has remained a persistent challenge over the years due to high staff turnover and a limited pool of available profiles. Traditional capacity-building models (i.e. face-to-face trainings) have struggled to keep up with the increased demand for knowledge and skills at local level. The GNC is therefore in the process of developing an online e-learning platform to develop capacity in nutrition cluster coordination and nutrition information management. This online e-learning platform will provide learning content based on the recently developed competency frameworks in cluster coordination and information management. The GNC has a number of experts working on the content creation for the e-learning platform. The GNC is now seeking a suitable candidate to provide digital design support to the e-learning platform, including overall platform design and specific graphic and/or video design for the individual modules.

The selected candidate would work in close collaboration with the subject experts developing the online modules and support them to make the modules more visually attractive and interactive. The selected candidate would also work closely with the GNC e-learning project manager to support the overall design of the website, in order to enhance user experience.

The applicants might have skills in any of the two above areas (design of a website (Moodle platform), and /or development of the graphic and/or video design).

Scope of Work:

E-learning platform

  • Provide quality assurance of the online platform’s (Moodle) overall design, layout, flow and functionality (learning pathways, certification process, evaluation process…etc.) to ensure optimal distance learning
  • Collaborate with the GNC capacity development project manager to ensure coherence of the overall design and functionality of the GNC e-learning platform
  • Provide recommendations on the best and most relevant design style and materials suitable for the e-learning platform’s target audience

Graphic design

  • Working with subject matter experts, transform text-based content into visual graphic design such as original illustrations, GIFs, interactive content (H5P), animated videos and infographics
  • Develop creative and innovative designs and technical solutions for specific modules based on assignment brief from subject experts
  • Review existing modules and provide suggested visual and layout enhancements
  • Provide custom photo, chart and art work editing support

A more detailed TOR with specific content and volume of work will be shared with the shortlisted candidates

Contractual arrangements:

  • Duration: The contract is expected to be more a duration of 2 months, with a possibility of extension. The exact number of days will be shared with the shortlisted candidates.
  • Location: The consultant will be home-based. No travel is expected.
