Org. Setting and Reporting This position is located within the Transport Section, in the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara. The incumbent will work directly with the IC Dispatch under the overall supervision of the Chief Transport Officer.

Responsibilities Within delegated authority, the incumbent will perform the following duties: •Long-distance heavy-duty truck driving assignments, both on & off road, for the delivery of bulk fuel, (diesel and jet A-1) water, (bottled & bulk), containerized units/loads, engineering plant equipment, Material Handling Equipment (MHE), communications equipment, and general cargo / supplies throughout the Mission area of operation/Area of Responsibility (AoR), •Preparation of assigned vehicle and personal equipment for each delivery, including the correct setting of tire pressures dependent upon load and road surface, i.e., before and after use checks and maintenance. •Reporting of vehicle faults to the relevant workshops for rectification & ensuring that in charge Dispatch is kept appraised of all faults & assigned vehicle states. •Responsible for replacing punctured wheels on assigned truck. •Loading / off-loading and security of cargo on assigned vehicles & assisting with the loading / off-loading & securing of cargo on other vehicles within the mission fleet as required. •Operation of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) such as but not limited to; forklift trucks, telescopic handlers, truck and module mounted cranes / hoists, & mobile cranes, both for loading & off-loading for transportation, and for maintenance purposes. •Operation of engineering plant equipment, such as but not limited to; graders, vibratory compactors, backhoes, front end loaders, skid steer loaders, & attachments for loading & off-loading for transportation, and for maintenance purposes. •Operation of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) & engineering plant in support of transport & engineering operations throughout the mission Area of Responsibility (AoR). •Operation of recovery trucks throughout the mission Area of Responsibility (AoR). •Assisting the workshops with the maintenance of trucks, MHE, & plant equipment, such as but not limited to; greasing & general lubrication, cleaning of filters, removal & replacement of wheels, renewal of consumables such as bucket teeth and blade tips, and filling of engine & transmission units with coolant & oils. •Driving of VIP’s and visitors as required. - Assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making. - Assists with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures. •Perform other duties as assigned by IC Dispatch.

Education High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Technical or vocational certificate in Material Handling Equipment is required.

Job - Specific Qualification A valid National Driving License in Categories B, C, D and EC is required. (Please attach a copy)

Work Experience A minimum of two (2) years of progressive experience in driving heavy and light duty vehicles is required. There are no minimum years of relevant experience for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher.

Knowledge of Laayoune, Dakhla, Smara, and Agadir cities is required.

A minimum of two years' experience in operating cranes is required.

The ability to drive both automatic and manual vehicles is required.

Experience working with United Nations or similar International Organization is desirable.

1 year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Arabic is desirable.

Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
