Org. Setting and Reporting This post is located in the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus. The incumbent will report to the Senior Transport Assistant or to his/her designate

Responsibilities Delivers goods via a heavy truck. Loads and unloads cargo. Collects delivery instructions from appropriate sources. Secures cargo for transport, using ropes, blocks, chain, binders, or covers. Maintains logs of working hours or of vehicle service or repair status, following applicable regulations. Follows appropriate safety procedures for transporting dangerous goods. Takes appropriate driver rest periods during trip. Follows all applicable traffic laws. Follows accident procedures if an accident occurs. Keeps truck, and associated equipment, clean and in good working order. Performs basic vehicle maintenance checks and services, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid or performing minor repairs. Loads and unloads trucks. Climbs ladders to inspect loads, ensuring that cargo is secure. Performs emergency roadside repairs, such as changing tyres or installing light bulbs, tyre chains. Meets official personnel at Airports, deals effectively and tactfully with visiting dignitaries, and makes deliveries of documents and parcels to and from offices, Ministries and Embassies. Experience in VIP driving and working with an International organizational desirable. Collaborates with other operators as part of a driving team on some trips. Performs other tasks as assigned.

Education High school education or equivalent is required.

Work Experience At least 2 years experience as a professional driver with a safe driving record is required.

Experience in driving a variety of makes and models including vans, trucks and small buses is required.

Working experience in an international organization is desirable.

Driver's training with a valid driver's license in categories B,C and D1 is required.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required.

Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
