This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

Drawing on the diversity of UNDP’s client needs and partnerships, the Office of Human Resources (OHR) is the hub for the global HR function for UNDP, providing strategy, policy setting, guidance and oversight. In addition, OHR provides a broad range of HR advisory and talent management services enabling UNDP to deliver fully integrated development solutions at corporate level. In this context, OHR is focused on the implementation of an ambitious and forward-looking three-year strategy, People for 2030, which will progressively transform UNDP’s culture and enable its workforce capacity to deliver more and better results. In its commitment to foster a safe, healthy and inclusive working environment for its workforce of over 20,000 people, serving in more than 160+ countries and in over 600 locations, BMS/OHR is increasing the provision of global programs and initiatives across different portfolios.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the HR Specialist or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Healthy Workplaces Programme Associate will:

• Develop and distribute communication tools promoting healthy workplaces;
• Roll-out of projects and initiatives related to safe, healthy and inclusive workplaces; • Draft and prepare documents, correspondence, guidelines, presentation and reports; • Support procurement and recruitment processes, including drafting terms of references, creating and managing procurement cases online, organizing panel interviews, processing payments and monitoring expenditures; • Support the management of contracts (including contract extensions, payments, evaluations etc) • Facilitate data and information collection, statistics and management of information related to the different topics of the team and across. • Edit and manage the content of intranet sites and of the Wellbeing App; • Further develop the UNDP Wellbeing platform and the PPU intranet websites, coordinating content development with other UNDP Offices/Bureaus: • Coordinate with wellbeing platform stakeholders to test and monitor progress on platform and app usage; • Edit app content and providing assistance in the area of web content development/updates by tracking changes. • Promote of the platform; researching diverse print and electronic information sources for topics and materials for use in promoting mobile and desktop platform products and services. • Coordinate and provide technical and logistical support for organizing workshops, meetings and consultations with relevant internal and external stakeholders. Prepare and circulate meeting minutes, workshop proceedings etc. • Any other related task assigned from time to time by the supervisor.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities:

• Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day); • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country; • Provide annual and end of assignment self-reports on UN Volunteer actions, results and opportunities.
• Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.; • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers; • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

the national and/or international level, in fields related to administration, human resources, staff support, psychology, social services or other relevant programmes; experience working in the UN or other international development organization is an asset. Experience in Web content management, managing and analysing data and supporting recruitment, procurement and other administrative processes is mandatory. Excellent oral and written skills in English; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills; Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing; Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development; Preferably working knowledge of one other language (Spanish, French, Russian and Arabic)

The UN Volunteer will be based in Istanbul, the largest city in Turkey where everything is available including education, health services and entertainment. There is a lively and large group of international community.

Istanbul is a highly developed modern city with excellent accommodation that includes single house, apartments, etc. The cost of living in Istanbul, comparing to some of the other capital cities in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, is relatively high. Travel to and from Istanbul is easy as there are many daily flights connecting Istanbul with major cities in the world.

Istanbul is a security level 2 (low) duty station and considered a generally safe city, where normal use of common sense and acting responsibly takes one a long way.

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. National UN Volunteers are part of the malicious insurance plan.
