This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

Eligibility criteria

Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of the Health and Nutrition Specialist, the UN Volunteer will :

  • Assists in preparing periodic updates of the Health and Nutrition activities in West Bank and Gaza through compiling data, analyzing and evaluating relevant information and providing the technical input in a timely and accurate manner
  • Supports the improvement of programme delivery with emphasis on monitoring of supply delivery and dissemination of goods to end users as planned
  • In coordination with the Health and Nutrition section, operations and supply teams support the health and nutrition supply focal point to follow up on implementation of the section supply plan
  • Coordinating with Operations and Supply staff on supply and non-supply assistance activities, ensures UNICEF and implementing partners accountability. Liaises with local authorities to ensure timely submission of requests and reports
  • Assists in identification and selection of Health & Nutrition supplies and equipment. Follows up on proper planning, delivery and use of supply component of the project. Ensures that activities are in accordance with plans of action. Records information on utilization of resources and distribution of supplies.
  • Conduct field monitoring visits to the project implementation sites in WB and Gaza focusing on distribution of medical supplies to the end user and assess their satisfaction. Collect goods receipt from relevant partners, government or NGO partners to ensure fulfillment of payment processes and assist in admin work related to the payments processing
  • Contribute to identification of risks related to the supply and propose mitigating actions
  • Performs any other duties and responsibilities assigned as appropriate to the purpose of this post, and delivers the results as required

Qualifications/Requirements

Required degree level:

Bachelor degree or equivalent

Education - Additional Comments:

Bachelor degree in Public Health, Business Administration, Social studies

Required experience:

24 Months

Experience remark:

  • At least 2 year of professional work experience at the national and/or international level in administration, health system strengthening logistics, or supply, or other relevant programmes; experience working in the UN or other international development organization is an asset;

Language skills:

  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
  • Arabic(Mandatory), Level - Fluent

  • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment;
  • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
  • Sound security awareness;
  • Have affinity with or interest in human relief, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.
