The Health Specialist reports to Chief Child Survival, Learning and Development for programmatic guidance and advice. Under the supervision of Chief, the Health Specialist provides expertise and managerial support to four health outputs (immunization, health, nutrition and climate change), with a technical focus on immunization programme management and resource mobilization. The post holder is responsible for overall health programme development, implementation, results monitoring and evaluation, partnership building, donor relations and resource mobilization. The Health Specialist provides technical leadership to routine and Covid-19 immunization programme management and high-quality results delivery in close coordination with local government, development partners, donors (i.e. Gavi, Canada etc), UNICEF RO/HQ and Supply Division. He/she is also responsible for inclusive and gender-responsive programming, systematic monitoring and achievement of concrete and sustainable results according to plans, budget allocation, results based-management approaches and methodology (RBM), organizational strategic plans and goals, standards of performance, accountability framework, as well as resource mobilization.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: public health, pediatric health, family health, health research, global/international health, health policy and/or management, environmental health sciences, biostatistics, socio-medical, health education, immunization, epidemiology, or another relevant technical field.
  • A minimum of five years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas is required: national immunization programme management, public health planning and management, maternal and neonatal health care, or health emergency/humanitarian preparedness.
  • A strong familiarity with and grants management experience of Gavi funding schemes/conditions for national-level immunization programme is an asset.
  • Experience working in a developing country is considered as an asset.
  • Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Russian language is an asset.
