Founded in 1933, the IRC is a leading nonsectarian, voluntary organization providing relief, protection and resettlement services for refugees and victims of oppression or violent conflict. In the U.S., the IRC resettles approximately 11,000 refugees per year and provides numerous program services to assist the refugee from their arrival through citizenship. The IRC in Salt Lake City opened it office in 1994 and provides resettlement services through extended case management to newly arrived refugees for up to 24-months as well as over twenty different programs to educate and empower refugees.

Job Overview:

Under the direction of the Health Program Manager, the Health Promotion Program Supervisor is responsible for the development and implementation of IRC SLC’s Health Team’s Health Promotion Program. The Health Promotion Program is comprised of health education classes, community health work, health promotion workshops and providing direct services to clients with the goal to ensure that resettlement clients achieve self-sufficiency within the US Healthcare system. The Health Promotion Program Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the partnership with DHHS – Refugee Health Promotion, Community Health Grants and other projects and initiatives as identified.

Primary Responsibilities:

- Develop programming for Health Promotion within IRC SLC, including conducting outreach, grant prospecting, grant writing and grants management. - Identify program services gaps, identify, and develop solutions. - Manage a team in accordance with IRC’s People Manager Standards - Satisfy recordkeeping and reporting requirements in compliance with DHHS HP Contract and other identified grants or contracts. - Maintain and build additional community partnerships that address the social determinants of health. - Support the health promotion program with service delivery and coordination. - Attend and facilitate key program meetings both internally and externally. - Lead training and development for new staff and interns on the Health Promotion Program. - Develop curriculum for refugee health promotion educational classes or workshops and obtain, track, and implement client feedback. - Provide transportation to/from medical or health appointments for IRC SLC Resettlement Clients. - Comply with all policies and protocols of the agency. - Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

- Minimum 2-3 years of work experience in mental health; preferably with diverse/refugee population - Bachelor’s degree in mental health related field, Psychology or Social Work. - Familiarity with the local mental health care system and means of accessing care for low-income individuals and those on Medicaid. - Fluency in written and spoken English, additional knowledge of languages spoken by refugees encouraged and appreciated. - Demonstrated ability to work as a team member in a multi-cultural environment. - Strong computer skill with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and ability to learn and utilize multiple electronic systems. - Competency in data management and entry - Familiarity with confidentiality guidelines and HIPAA - Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively. - Commitment to the mission of IRC and the SLC office needs and outcomes
