IOM carries out various activities to assist governments and partners in addressing migration and mobility-related health challenges by strengthening the national health systems and ensuring that migrants have equitable access to health services. Migrant beneficiaries of this area of work include workers, undocumented migrants, trafficked persons, seasonal and otherwise, temporary cross-border migrants and displaced populations, as well as labour migrants and migrant hosting communities. Partners include governments, NGOs, UN agencies including WHO, civil society groups and academic agencies, among others.

The MHD Unit in IOM Egypt is implementing a series of action aimed at health promotion and assistance to migrants, based on the Office strategy and activities to guarantee the highest standards and protection to respond to the needs of the migrant population in Egypt. IOM health projects include operational research to promote evidence-based migration health policies and support access to high-quality health services for migrants. It also includes technical support and national capacity-building efforts to the Government and partners in Egypt, to better manage migration-related health challenges.

The Migration Health Division, Health Promotion and Assistance Unit (MHD – H2) is looking for a volunteer to support its health promotion and assistance activities, including the COVID-19 response, the Sudan response and to draft new concept notes for new migration health projects.

Under the direct supervision of the National Health Project Officer the Online Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

Support the project development related to the Joint Platform for Migrants and Refugees on Health and Education along with the Health Projects team, in terms of research, data collection, analysis and updating the current proposal.

• Demonstrated interest and/or experience (up to two years) in project development and reporting as well as liaison with donors and implementing partners.

• Sound knowledge of public health topics and migration issues

• Research experience.
