UNICEF has been an active partner of the Government of the Philippines and civil society in realizing the rights of every Filipino child, in line with priorities to achieve the SDGs. UNICEF efforts have been focused on the most vulnerable regions identified by the Government of the Philippines Development Plan, particularly in the regions of Visayas and Mindanao. To ensure that interventions are sustainable and scaled up, UNICEF will support both the national and local government units (LGUs) as the main instruments of delivering services and building systems. The level of engagement with government institutions will consider capacities, economies of scale and sector issues.

UNICEF Philippines has two offices. One office is based in Manila and a field office in Cotabato City, the second largest city in Mindanao, Southern Philippines, with some 300,000 population. The city is the regional administrative centre of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) and over 80 percent of the population is Muslim. Mindanao is both conflict-affected and prone to frequent earthquakes and typhoons.

How can you make a difference?

Under the supervision of the Immunization Specialist, the Supply Chain Officer in close collaboration with the Supply Unit of the Philippines Country Office supports vaccine procurement, including strategic expansion of new vaccines, and provides technical support to the government in monitoring and implementation of the National Immunization Program (NIP). The Health Officer plays a coordinating role between several stakeholders including UNICEF CO Health & Nutrition and Supply Section, UNICEF Supply Division, UNICEF RO/ HQ, WHO, government (DOH), and other partners. Provides technical expertise to the government in the overall management and improvement of the supply chain system and the NIP.

The Supply Chain Officer will have the following duties and responsibilities:

1. Technical support to enhance planning, forecasting and procurement

2. Support logistics management and cold chain system

3. Support innovations, capacity building and evidence generation

4. Technical and operational support to immunization program implementation

5. Support in health emergencies and disaster response

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Education:
    • A university degree in Public Health/allied Health, Management, Engineering, Logistics, Procurement, Social Sciences, or related field.
  • Work Experience:

    • At least two (2) years of progressively responsible professional work experience in Immunization/Public Health programming/ health supply/lprocurement/logistics.
    • Technical knowledge on Expanded Programme on Immunization, supply chain and vaccine cold chain system.
    • Experience working in a developing country/emergency is considered as an asset.
  • Skills

    • Ability to plan, coordinate and manage multiple activities and adjust to changing priorities.
  • Language Requirements:

    • Fluency in English (verbal and written) and Filipino.

Desirables:

  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency.
  • Experience in health program/project development in a UN system agency or organization is an asset.
