This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

• Support Federal Ministry of Health to improve Health Information System capacity to collect, analyse and produce proper and comprehensive data reports. • Enhance resource mobilization and improve effective Health Information System as a strategic demand to both WHO and MoH.

Under the supervision of National Health Coordinator/ HSD Unit and as part of a team the specialized volunteer will support Directorate Health Information System in Federal and State Ministries of Health to perform the following assignments:

Coordinates data collection and data management activities, achieving results such as: • Implementation of ad-hoc assessments and studies on Health Information Service (HIS) and databases, identifying critical points for improvement (mainly on data quality, data analysis, and data sharing among health providers). • Assist in the implementation of DHIS2 at federal and state level which can accommodate DHIS-2 for COVD-19 surveillance, DHIS2 for COVID-19 vaccination. • Assist the development of reliable data management processes including standardization of data format, sustainable structure of data collection, validation, analysis and eventually results dissemination within the WHO country office in the support of HIS as a flagship program. • Timely dissemination of WHO updated information (e.g. reports, and website) on a regular and prompt basis and regular collection, compilation and interpretation of data including humanitarian data. • Assist the implementation of the COVID-19 and any other outbreak activities in Sudan at the state level, providing necessary communications and delivering results as instructed • Participation in meetings, seminars, workshops, study tour and observatory activities inside and outside of the country. • Response to queries and provisions of solutions to problems, including conducting rapid surveys, assessments and proper research studies when required. • Assist in generating updated statistical and analytical reports, based on existing database. • Production of health situation reports in collaboration with the various technical units.

• Masters of Science in Public health, Health information system or related field. • Demonstrated advance experience (>2 years) in health information system in particular DHIS2 • Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture, (i.e. studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded. • Technical Skills: MS Office (MS Word, Excel & Power Point).
• Desirable: Excellent inter-personal and communication skills with fast learning ability. Effective organizational skills and ability to handle work in an efficient and timely manner. Ability to coordinate tasks to meet deadlines. Familiarity with WHO business process is regarded as an asset and experience in GIS and its use in health

The duty station is Khartoum, and as this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials.
