NRC is looking for a Head of Support to join the Myanmar mission. The role holder will ensure that all support functions are providing high quality and efficient support programme implementation. He/she will play a strategic and leading role to ensure high quality support services to deliver programmes in a complex and challenging environment, as well as guide and advise the Country Management in the interests of NRC Myanmar its beneficiaries for all support-related matters.

What You Will Do

  • Strategic input to the development of the country strategy and plan of action.
  • Quality and timely support to project implementation.
  • Operational support coordination and alignment with programme plans and with proposal development.
  • Master budget, country level budgets and business process outsourcing facilitation and development.
  • Country structures, technical systems, and human resource capacity and allocation strategic development.
  • Standard operating procedures, guidelines, and tools development.
  • Organisational learning related to programme support.
  • Line management, guidance, and direction for Support Managers and Support Field Teams.

What You Will Bring

  • Senior management experience in a humanitarian/recovery context.
  • Logistic and Procurement, Human Resources, and Finance routines proficiency in a humanitarian context.
  • Resource and cost allocation expertise.
  • Market analysis and cash-based interventions knowledge and exposure.
  • Remote programming and remote team-working exposure.
  • Complex, and volatile context exposure.
  • Myanmar context exposure and knowledge.
  • English fluency, both written and verbal.

What Makes This Position Attractive?

  • NRC has delivered humanitarian assistance and protection to vulnerable affected populations in Myanmar since 2008, following Cyclone Nargis. Over that time, NRC has evolved into a complex and mature mission with an excellent reputation for technical skill and delivery of programmes.
  • NRC provides services and assistance to vulnerable populations affected by conflict and displacement over three geographical areas (North-West, North-East, and South-East Myanmar) and the Country Office in Yangon, across 10 offices. The portfolio of projects is currently larger than 15.
  • NRC Myanmar works in collaboration with a diverse portfolio of partner organisations. Over the past years NRC Myanmar has been at the forefront of partnerships; piloting fair share, integrated programming, and stand-alone protection from violence; and promoting and developing staff capacity.
  • Overall, the Programme Unit brings together a team of around 15 staff. This is an opportunity to join one of the most respected humanitarian actors in Myanmar that has a strong reputation with donors, embassies, clusters, and peer agencies, and the chance to work with a diverse portfolio of donors and partners.

What We Offer

  • Yangon, Myanmar duty station, subject to receiving appropriate documentation. The successful candidate will be expected to work from home/remotely for extended periods of time.
  • 24-month contract duration.
  • 25% travel, approximately.
  • Grade 11 in NRC’s Salary Scale. NRC offers a competitive compensation and benefits package.
