Context

Internal communication and knowledge management is critical to achieving NRC’s mission and to be a great organisation to work for. The Internal Communications and Knowledge management unit (KM & IC unit) is established to support NRC’s mission and ensure consistent work culture, quality programs and enabled staff as we work towards our mission to serve people.

The KM & IC Unit is responsible for developing NRC’s strategy, policies, and tools for knowledge management, internal communication, and translation. The Unit coordinates and oversees the implementation of the same. The unit performs its tasks in close collaboration with other functions that have a part in NRC’s knowledge management and internal communication.

We are looking for an experienced professional, familiar with digital knowledge management systems, and with documented experience from developing ways of working for effective creation, sharing, and managing knowledge and information flows of an organization.

What you will do

  1. Generic Responsibilities:
  • Lead the NRC’s Internal Communication and Knowledge Management unit.
  • Develop NRC’s strategy, policy and practice for internal communication, knowledge management and document filing and archiving.
  • Support line & project managers in their responsibilities for developing and implementing internal communication plans and knowledge management strategies
  • Coordinate IC and knowledge management activities with governance and change management functions, including Norcap, Field Operations SG Office, OD SPD and Risk Management Function.
  • Develop NRC’s internal comms guidelines for crises in collaboration with PnP Advocacy & Media section.
  • Support selected strategic organisational development processes globally, in regions and/or countries, for example on change management, internal communication and coordination and alignment between related initiatives and processes across levels and units.
  • Compliance and adherence to NRC policies, guidance, and procedures
  1. Specific Responsibilities:
  • Manage HO all staff communication in close collaboration with SG Office and departments
  • Other concrete tasks as agreed with Deputy SG/OD Dir

What you will bring

  • Professional skills within internal communication, knowledge management and/or strategic development of these functions.
  • Experience from communication management in complex organisations.
  • Detailed knowledge of NRC’s organisation and/or similar organisations.
  • Excellent people management and communication skills – preferably experience from delivering results through a matrix structure. Must be able to motivate and influence staff across the organisation.
  • Self-driven, able to initiate change and seek influence.
  • Structured, planned, and transparent – candidate must be able to plan complex projects and support.
  • Confident in making decisions and recommendations that as substantial impact NRC’s programmes or reputation.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
