Overview

Lead NORCAP’s Energy and Environment Unit, enhancing clean energy initiatives.

You have:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience, including 3+ years in a managerial role.
  • Proven expertise in humanitarian and development sectors, with a strong track record in programme management and fundraising.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing teams, HR processes, and strategic planning.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder engagement skills.

NORCAP works to improve aid to better protect and empower people affected by crisis and climate change. We do this by providing expertise and solutions to humanitarian, development and peacebuilding partners, because we believe working together is the best way to reduce needs, risks and vulnerability over time. As part of our commitment to climate action and sustainable development, NORCAP is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to lead our Energy and Environment Unit. This Oslo-based role is permanent and reports to the Director of Climate Action, Peace and Democracy. The successful candidate will oversee a team of experts and drive strategic, operational, and technical leadership in clean energy and environmental programming.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience, including 3+ years in a managerial role.
  • Proven expertise in humanitarian and development sectors, with a strong track record in programme management and fundraising.

Responsibilities

As the Head of Energy and Environment Unit, you will take on the following responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for NORCAP’s clean energy and environmental initiatives, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
  • Manage and support a team of professionals, fostering collaboration, innovation, and continuous development.
  • Oversee project and programme delivery, ensuring quality, timeliness, and compliance with donor and organisational standards.
  • Lead the development and implementation of thematic strategies, including risk management and cross-team learning.
  • Cultivate and manage partnerships with donors, stakeholders, and peer organisations to enhance programme impact and sustainability.
  • Drive fundraising efforts and contribute to proposal development to support thematic priorities.
  • Ensure effective resource allocation, budget oversight, and achievement of key performance indicators.
  • Promote a cohesive organisational culture through inclusive leadership and open communication.
