Job Description

Background/IRC Summary:

Since 2007, IRC has worked with refugees and other vulnerable populations in Jordan. IRC’s programs in Jordan address gender-based violence specifically violence against women and girls. As well as SRH to Syrian refugees through two health clinics based in Zaatari and Azraq refugee camps.

Job Overview/Summary:

The Gynecologist- part time will be working in IRC three SRH facilities in Azraq camp. He/ She will cover up to 15 working days every month according to IRC call. This role will be mainly responsible for providing quality clinical care to the patients with obstetric and gynecological problems and referral the camp's hospital when needed.

Major Responsibilities:

- The Gynecologist will be specifically responsible for performing the following duties: - Taking detailed medical history from patients accessing IRC clinics for receiving services. - Conduct detailed physical examination of patients according to the nature of the present complaints. - Provide clinical care for and treat women during prenatal, natal, and postnatal periods referred by the midwives and as per SRH guidelines. - Prescribe or coordinate therapy, medication, and other specialty medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury related to RH issues. - Further screen the high risk gynecological cases referred by midwives, confirm the diagnosis and refer them to the hospital for receiving the required treatment - Provide detailed history, details of examination conducted on the patients and findings while referring the patients to the camp hospital - Refer the gynecological and obstetric cases to the general physicians in the health facility if the cases suffer from medical problems. - Support the midwives in performing Intra Uterine Contraceptive Devices insertion and removal. - Provide technical mentorship to IRC midwives to ensure good quality of reproductive health services provided to the beneficiaries.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

This position will be based in IRC health facility in Azraq refugee camp. The security situation in the IRC intervention areas is generally calm and the security department of IRC shares regular security updates to keep the management and staff advised about the new developments.

The IRC and IRC workers must enforce to the values and principles outlined in IRC Way - Standards for Professional Conduct. These are Integrity, Service, and Accountability. In accordance with these values, the IRC operates and carries out policies on Beneficiary Protection from Exploitation and Abuse, Child Safeguarding, Anti Workplace Harassment, Fiscal Integrity, and Anti-Retaliation.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

Education: Master’s degree in Gynecology registered with and certified by government of Jordan

Work Experience: 1 to 3 years’ experience on similar positions

VALIDATED SKILLS AND PROFICIENCIES:

- Good communication and interpersonal skills - Knowledge on RH protocols and guidelines - Committed to helping refugees and working within IRC policies

LANGUAGE SKILLS: PROFICIENT IN ARABIC

Certificates or Licenses: certificate of education for the master’s degree
