Background Information - CPG

The Communications Group (CG) provides communication support and services to UNOPS personnel and country and partnership offices around the world. CG develops communications strategies, policies, plans and channels based on communications needs and expectations; maintains and strengthens UNOPS corporate identity through official reporting to the Executive Board and other external communications, enabling accountability and transparency; communicates a clear direction and strategic focus, ensuring that the people of UNOPS understand and can demonstrate their contribution to its success; and facilitates and encourages the sharing of information, knowledge and best practices, achieving dialogue throughout the organization.

This post is a home-based position; the designer will be working with the Communications Group, UNOPS Headquarters in Copenhagen.

Under the guidance and supervision of the Communications Manager- Brand and Design, the Graphic Designer will support the production of designed materials for UNOPS

The incumbent is responsible to abide by security policies, administrative instructions, plans and procedures of the UN Security Management System and that of UNOPS.

Functional Responsibilities

  • Designing and laying out materials in InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Presenting finalized ideas and concepts to the supervisor.
  • Working on layouts and artworks, pages ready for print.
  • Producing clear, concise, and vivid materials that convey key messages to target audiences.
  • Create images that identify a product or convey a message.
  • Develop graphics for product illustrations, logos, and websites.
  • Select colors, images, text styles, and layout (following UNOPS brand manual).
  • Amend the design based on feedback/recommendations from the supervisor.

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education:

Master's degree in graphic design, fine arts, visual communications or related area. A Bachelor's degree in these fields with an additional experience of 2 years may be accepted in lieu of the Master's degree.

Experience:

  • At least two (2) years of relevant experience in Graphic Design is required.
  • A graphics portfolio of work demonstrating a broad range of visual products targeted to specific audiences.
  • Knowledge of digital media, visual communications and interactive storytelling methods is highly desired.
  • An understanding of development, humanitarian or international affairs.

Language

Fluency in English is required.

Knowledge of other UN languages is desirable.
