UNICEF Lebanon’s Communication section works on the production of multimedia content contributing to communication, advocacy, and resource mobilization purposes in support of the most vulnerable children. The compound crisis affecting the country has significantly increased the needs of multimedia content production, as well as tailored designed communication materials depending on the audience and objectives. Accordingly, a graphic designer will cover designs production requested by programmes and communication section for media outreach, digital communication, donor engagement, events, brand building, field visits and any other activity requiring design development. Therefore, UNICEF Lebanon is seeking for senior graphic designer for this assignment to produce designed communication and advocacy assets.

June 2024To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • University degree in graphic design/visual communication or any other related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience of developing graphic design work for UN agencies or international NGOs.
  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
  • Expert knowledge in graphic design and graphic design software, including but not limited to: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After effect, Final Cut Pro, Flash, Flex Builder, and the rest of the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Advanced knowledge in concept and creation of specific graphic design assets, including infographics/factographs (for print and digital), data visualization, animation, and interactive presentations.
  • Strong comprehension of work, standards and practices of UNICEF and other International Government/Humanitarian Organizations.
  • Proven experience of graphic production from start to published/printed product with knowledge of printing processes (offset and digital) and color management.
  • Knowledge of programming languages is a plus, including: HTML, HTML5 and main frameworks (bootstrap, boiler plate), CSS (1 to 3), Javascript and the main library, PHP, AJAX, XML, Javascript, PHP, and MySQL.
  • User experience oriented, with strong comprehension of human centered design and data driven content strategies.
  • Strong comprehension of theory related to human interaction with websites, information architecture, usability, accessibility, UX and interactive design is a plus.
  • Self-motivated and results oriented.
  • Proven ability to deliver under tight deadlines.
  • Possesses strong organizational and detail-oriented skills.
  • International professional experience is an asset.
  • Brings evidence of success in preparing successful branding products and marketing materials.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
