You have:
- A university degree (bachelor's or equivalent) in graphic design, media, communications, or related disciplines is required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Graphic Design and related services is required.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
- Strong skills in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere Pro) is required.
- Competence in web management and desktop publishing is highly preferred.
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge or fluency in other UN languages would be an advantage.

Result of Service
The ultimate result of the service is designing, layout and infographics for: the MetroHub Newsletter; Including waste pickers in metropolitan waste management; KNUPP Annual report; the PLGS annual report 2024; the Global URL report (GTURL); Policy Paper- Metropolitan Diplomacy, ; Booklet with Preliminary Findings from the First Series of Voluntary Metropolitan Reviews (VMR), )1, MetroHUB toolkit on metropolitan legislation; and a set of approximately5-10 maps for to be included at the atlas of the Global State of Metropolis Report; Case Studies on Planning Laws in Five Countries (Spatial Planning Law Project for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia); Comparative Legal Research on Spatial Planning Hierarchies at Various Administrative Levels in 9 countries (Institutional Strengthening and Capacity Building Project in Vietnam); Housing, land and property-sensitive urban law: Enhancing urban law to protect housing, land and property across the conflict cycle (emergency response) and perform other tasks as assigned by the section leader.

Duties and Responsibilities
Background The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is the mandated UN Agency working towards a sustainable urbanization and human settlements. UN-Habitat works in over 90 countries supporting people in cities and human settlements for a better urban future. The agency has been focusing on urban development for over 40 years. Working with governments and local partners, its high impact projects combine world-class expertise and local knowledge to deliver timely and targeted solutions. The Policy, Legislation and Governance Section (PLGS) is one of the five sections of the Urban Practices Branch of UN-Habitat. The Section works on Policies, Legislation and Governance with specific mandate which include: 1. Develop norms, standards, tools, methodologies, regulatory frameworks, and code of practices at global, regional and national level. 2. Lead testing/piloting of tools and methodologies through pilot programmes and projects. 3. Disseminate norms, standards, tools, methodologies, regulatory frameworks, and code of practices, including knowledge products. 4. Provide technical, policy advice and services on norms, approaches and methodologies to internal and external partners including on implementation of operational programmes/projects. The Policy, Legislation and Governance Section plays a critical role in implementing the UN-Habitat Strategic Plan 2020-2025, the relevant Sustainable Development Goals (e.g. target 11a.1) and the New Urban Agenda. This assignment is designed to support the UN-Habitat, Policy, Legislation and Governance Section (PLGS) in the implementation and execution of its communication. The graphic designer will assist with different tasks including and not limited to the conception, design and packaging and promotion of PLGS products of its different thematic areas. Activities In the light of the context described and under, the overall supervision of the Chief of the Policy, Legislation and Governance Section and direct supervision of the Legal Specialist, Policy, Legislation and Governance Section the Consultant will have the following responsibilities: • Produce clear, concise, and vivid materials that convey key messages to target audiences. This consists of layout of normative publications, internal and external newsletters, press releases, articles, mission fact sheets etc. • Dissemination of the reports on social media and the Urban Policy Platform.
Qualifications/special skills
Academic Qualifications: A university degree (bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in graphic design, media, communications, or related disciplines is required. Minimum 3 years of experience in Graphic Design and related services is required. Computer Skills: Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite package (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and Premiere pro) is required. Competence in web management, desktop publishing is highly preferred. Previous experience working with the United Nations will be an added advantage.
Languages
English and French are the official working languages of the United Nations. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge or fluency in other UN languages would be an advantage.
