Design and layout for the World Cities Report 2024

You have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in visual communications, graphic design, or related field is required.
  • 5 years of relevant experience in graphic design including print, exhibition, mobile, web and data visualization is required.
  • Proficient in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator as well as 3D software such as SketchUp is required.
  • Fluency in oral and written English is required.
  • Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
  • Ability to produce appealing visuals from complex data is desirable.
  • Detail-oriented, creative, ability to multi-task and work efficiently under tight deadlines is desirable.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment is desirable.

Result of Service

The successful completion of the design and layout for the World Cities Report 2024, including the design and production of key collateral materials such as the key message booklet, postcards, and executive summary. These materials will be created in English, with layout adaptations for Arabic and other UN languages, ensuring consistent and impactful communication of UN-Habitat's key messages on urban development to global stakeholders. The final products will align with UN-Habitat’s branding guidelines and effectively contribute to raising awareness of urban issues and promoting the agency’s work worldwide.

Duties and Responsibilities

Background, Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationships: The United Nations Human Settlements Programme, UN-Habitat, is the agency for human settlements. It is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all. UN-Habitat’s External Relations, Strategy, Knowledge and Innovation Division (ERSKI) is responsible for strategic planning, programmatic direction and operationalization of UN-Habitat's focal point role for the New Urban Agenda in the UN system; knowledge management, data and reporting; innovation; resource mobilization; and strategic partnerships. Responsibility Under the supervision of the Head of Production, the incumbent will design and layout the publications, collaterals, and branding materials for the World Cities Report 2024. Expected Outputs and Deliverables: The list of deliverables includes the design and layout of the World Cities Report 2024 and various collaterals included below: 1. Design and layout of 5 chapters of the World Cities Report including from matter. 2. Design of the key message booklet, postcard, executive summary, and other collaterals for the report in English. 3. Layout of the key message booklet, executive summary, and other collaterals for the report in Arabic and other UN languages.

Qualifications/special skills
